Haven't heard of him before but I am usually for signings like this, glad he's staying at his club for another year if that's true.

A young player? but i thought according to some people Carlo only signs over the hill ageing players, and we wont be signing any young players at all. Well thats shocked and stunned me, almost a week into the transfer window and we inly have 2 signings, what are they doing at our club....

When a range of top clubs try to sign a player, you know he's gotta be a talent. Great Signing, look forward to seeing him in action.

Don't you recall the story about him sharing a beer and a game of hacky sack with Roman on a Turkish beach?

A roman on a turkish beach, is that some kind of Bond plot line?

I work with a guy from the Czech Republic who is well into his football and he rates this guy and reckons he has a very promising career ahead of him. He was slightly shocked when I told him he's signed for Chelsea though.

Nice little interview with the man himself here

http://thechels.net/2010/07/introducing-tomas-kalas/?

especially liked this bit

"So why Chelsea?

Lots of reasons really. For example, at Hoffenheim, who would I turn to if I needed anything? At Chelsea, there is already a Czech influence. Petr Cech will definitely be there to help.

There is also Jan Sebek, and moreover, I supported Chelsea as a young child, so maybe that’s what finally swung the decision."

Seems like we'll have to wait to see him in a Chelsea shirt since we apparently will loan him back to his old club now. So he'll have to wait to have a chat with Cech.

I was introduced to a seventeen year-old who played against us in the European Championships, who told me about their training methods, what’s good, what’s bad, and all of the other facilities available to me.

Guess he's talking about Josh.

Well, not so much, they called me. When we were in England, my father and I went with the agents and Mr Wenger called us. When he learned we were there he told me how he would take me under his wings and that he would take care of me, how it would be great for my development and I should go to Arsenal.
At the time my future had not been resolved, but if I had chosen them, I would have given in and been attracted by sweet talk. I never have been and probably never will be.

Nice try Wenger!
