Well sort of.........He's been loaned out to Cardiff. They don't want to sell him to rivals.

Steven Ireland is training with their reserves, after asking for £2m to join Aston Villa after City tried to use him as a make-weight in a bid for Milner.

Shay Given is being refused a move, Arsenal, City's rivals have shown an interest.

I can understand not wanting to sell to rivals, but ruining players careers, who were relatively happy last season has got to be seen as a restraint of trade somewhere along the lines, they're not all Winston Bogardes are they!

are you implying that playing for Cardiff isn't him plying his trade?

He's been training with Cardiff to keep himself fit.

Spurs, Celtic and Fulham have both shown an interest, I'd say he's settled with Cardiff for personal reasons, rather than for professional or a career choice.

Apparently he's always said he wants to end his career with Cardiff.

A Man City fan's excuse from another forum:

Apparently he's been a right **** behind the scenes and the final straw was when the club got evidence he was discussing a move to Spurs behind their back two months ago.

To be fair its Craig Bellamy, theres every chance hes been a right sh*t. This is the same player who did these things and more:-

allegedly stamped his feet when he was initially not allowed to leave West Ham, threw a chair at Newcastle coach John Carver when he didn't get his way, and publicly accused then Toon manager Graeme Souness of being a liar, Also the texting to Alan Shearer. Hes a c**t, simple as that.

He's alway's been a c*nt, but there are other players who haven't, who are being treated just as badly.

With the funds and excessive amount of player on their books. Mancini is on a hiding to nothing, there will be fun and games when they name their 25 man squad.

Wasn't it Corporal Bellamy, in the conservatory, with the Golf Clubs, as well?

Yes, Craig Bellamy is an idiot, but frankly the way this whole thing has come about has been sad. In the post-match interview of the Wales game, he was told he isnt in the 25 man squad, and his response was "Well, thats the first i've heard about the whole situation, so you know more than me now." He is always playing the victim card, but the fact that City want shot of a player who was so important last year, to me, is crazy.

This is City's terrible planning biting them in the butt. At 95k a week no lower division club can afford him, and City are just now in the twilight zone of European league places where they view everyone as a rival. Bellamy was a purchase to help them climb up the table, but they still gave him huge wages and i'm sure they will have a hell of a time unloading the likes of Lescott and RSC in the coming weeks too.

Ireland's situation is similar. They are holding up a deal because they dont want to give him a payment. But by not doing this, and cheaping out when the club are willing to pay 24 million for bleeding Lescott, they just look stupid and petty.

Had they just paid the money, nothing more wouldve been heard of it, Ireland wouldve gone to Villa, Milner would be at City. Now, its been dragged out into the open and they look like cheap bar stewards. And its something a player is gonna think about in future when they get a big money offer from City. If things go bad, they will hang you out to dry. But at the end of the day, its a business.

I wish Bellers all the best. Delighted he didnt sign for the twitching c**t at the lane.

He leaves me with fond memories, always up for it, always in the face of opposition players and referees. Particular highlights were the brace against you, (sorry) and the brace against the rags which obviously didnt work out but did see him slap a plastic at full time.

He will tear the Championship to bits.

Whenever Bellers leaves a club there has to be a sh*t storm. I cant make sense of what has happened and feel he should have been in the 25, but unfortunately Bobby didnt seem to rate him.

Might just play for us again one day but id love to see him happy and finish his career at his boyhood club.

it's understandable you'd have good memories of Bellamy, but for me, apart from anything else, his part in the whole Team Bridge thing will never be forgiven or forgotten.

Are City fans happy or annoyed to see him go? Clearly there is no middle ground on the internet.

Strange thing is although City are making a lot of high profile signings and need to trim their squad I think Bellamy will be a big loss, he is always a pain for defences and has had some decent games for them...I don't like his personality (or what it appears to be like) but as a player of limited ability I think what he has got he has made the best of and been an asset to whatever club he is with..not by any means outshone at City by the biig name players.

Good on him if he ends his career at the Club he supports.

I wouldnt say annoyed.

The divide seems to sit with where loyalties had been with Hughes.

A few mates who hated Mark are pleased to see him go as it fits with an agenda of sorts.

I personally liked Mark and have to say im disappointed to see Craig go. I really think he could of caused havoc again this season.

The media portrayed Craig as the victim this time, that fits with our current profile with the media, big bad City etc... I think it was probably 50/50 between Bobby and Craig but its very easy to slag Craig off and some City fans are towing that party line.

Anyone that thinks he wont be missed is very wrong.

However seeing Bellers High fiving Redknapp after our game with Spuds last season ruined Craigs persona with alot of our supporters.

I would say plenty are unhappy about him going.

What about Ireland, Given and Lescott? I won't mention Santa Cruz because he was hardly a hit at City.

Its always hard to see a player leave who states he wants to make history and have a stand named after him (Ireland). The problem is Stevie has had one great season and several very average ones. Last season he looked lost and it seemed health scares ruined his confidence on the pitch. Going in and out of the team wont have helped and if he had stayed then it would have more than likely been a repeat of last year. Ireland doesnt deserve that and I want to see him do well. I agree with Mancini on this one, he needs a fresh start, but I dont agree that he should of been kicked to the reserves because he wasnt keen on a move to Villa. Pretty ruthless.

Given...Meh. I have been pretty outspoken on Shay but believe me he may make spectacular saves but that is literally all he does. Incredible shot stopper. Awful at everything else. Doesnt command his area, never leaves his line and exposes a defences weaknesses. A newcastle supporter once said to me that, "is it any coincedence that every defence Shay has played behind behind has looked sh*t?" I lost count at the amount of goal we conceded right on our six yard line last season. The scum scored pretty much all of their goals against us last season by hammering crosses at our six yard line, he just never left his line. Joe Hart is just different class and will continue to improve.

Lescott just needs to get fit and prove himself to Bobby. Right now he doesnt look right to me.

see, you were doing so well until you said "Lescott just needs to get fit and prove himself to Bobby". Everton are still giggling at what you paid for someone who is basically a positionally inept, injury-prone defensive liability! One decentish season a while ago now, and there you were, fooled by the hype. I truly believe that Lescott would struggle to keep a place in a mid-table team, let alone a team like City, who's aspiration is to play in the Channel 5 cup in at leat three out of every five seasons.

I thought the original question was regarding the players futures?

It would be hard for Bobby to judge him from a few matches.

In all honesty he looked very solid next to Kompany before his last injury, however in pre season he looked like he had lost even more pace. I would be surprised to see him a regular from now on though.

i don't think it's that so much as City not allowing him to play for another Premiership team. Celtic were interested apparently but Bellamy didn't fancy going North of the border. maybe he's just playing down his contract. anyone know how long he's got left?

love him or loathe him, i have to admit he's a hell of a player, far too good for for the Championship. fully expect him to be top scorer in that division, and wouldn't be at all surprised to see him making all the difference towards Cardiff's push for promotion.

which brings us to another question: if Cardiff do win promotion at the end of the season, would City then refuse to extend the loan or even sell him to Cardiff, who could then be considered potential rivals?

Read that Bellend might not be able to make this move due to financial stuff at Cardiffs end, they need to prove that they can pay for having him.
