According to the BBC:

1737: BREAKING NEWS:

Frank Lampard is to have hernia surgery in midweek and will miss England's Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Switzerland, Chelsea have confirmed.

Blah blah blah bad form blah blah blah etc etc... he needs a bloody operation.

Great timing Frank, putting the Chels first ;)

it's on the official site now:

LAMPARD TO HAVE SURGERY

Posted on: Sat 28 Aug 2010

Carlo Ancelotti revealed Frank Lampard will have a hernia operation this week following our 2-0 win over Stoke City.

The Italian explained the medical department tried to manage the problem during the week but after the player felt pain during today's game, and was substituted in the second-half, he will now have surgery.

The procedure is the same as Didier Drogba's recent hernia surgery, which saw the Ivorian striker back in training after only seven days. It does mean that Lampard will not go on international duty with England.

'He [Lampard] has a problem on his groin,' explained Ancelotti. 'He had the surgery ten years ago and this week was not very good. He also didn't feel well in the game.

'So the only solution is to have surgery this week, maybe he will do this Tuesday or Wednesday. It means he is not able to play for the national team.

'He'll be ready in one week or two weeks. We have experience because it is the same surgery as Drogba and Drogba took one week before he was able to train.

'It is not a big problem. It is very easy surgery but he needs it because he started to feel pain.'

I am willing to do anything to help the team dkw, this is no different.

This is what Carlo has to say on the matter:

Your such a martyr to the cause.

Like I said in the match thread, if I had Christine Bleakely at home I guarantee I would have groin problems after a few weeks too.

Its just been confirmed he will out for 2 or 3 Weeks. We have so good replacements. Ramires, Benayoun, Essien, Mikel, Malouda

Nobody could replace Super Frank permanatley.

Get Fit Soon :JC_doubleup:

I don't blame you :D

Tell her there's no need.... Gem's already voluntered.

Dont think Gems doing the op, she`s just helping with the after op physio, she`s doing the rubbing.

May well explain his performance in the last two games which have been painfully poor. Hopefully the surgery and short break will put that right.

Agreed, hope he will be all right after the surgery...

Terry has also been ruled out for the next few weeks, though hopefully its just to get him out of the England squad.

If you had Christine Bleakley at home you'd have Super Frank kicking your door down, hernia or no hernia

Is that official?

I saw JT interviewed after today's game and he said he'd been suffering from a hamstring strain for a few weeks now. But I haven't heard that he's been withdrawn from the England games. I hope it's true of course!

confirmed on the official site:

TERRY TO MISS INTERNATIONALS

Posted on: Sat 28 Aug 2010

John Terry has tonight (Saturday) been ruled out of England's next two games due to injuries to his right hamstring and glute muscles.

John has spoken personally to the England management team, and Chelsea and England medical staff have also been in touch. All are agreed that John's injuries, that he has carried since pre-season, would benefit from a period of rest and rehabilitation.

This follows the news of Frank Lampard's surgery to take place next week.

The international break is annoying as it robs us of a chance to build up momentum with a [relatively] easy run of games at the beginning of the season. On the flip side it allows players with niggles like Lampard and Terry to put things right and be up to full strength for the game against the Pikies.

Hopefully Ashley Cole will pull out of the international too and then England can go and get f**ked for all I care.

agree entirely. however, here's a little more good news:

Didier Drogba will sit out a second successive international for the Ivory Coast, who have left him out of the squad for next Saturday's African Nations Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

The same privilege has not be accorded to any other of the team's big-name players such as Emmanuel Eboue, Kolo Toure, his brother Yaya and Salomon Kalou, who are all in the 20-man squad for the Group H game in Abidjan.

Drogba's place is taken again by Monaco's Yannick Sagbo, who won his first cap earlier this month when the Ivorians beat Italy 1-0 in London earlier this month without the Chelsea forward.

Sagbo is one of only three squad members who did not go to the World Cup in South Africa as new coach Francois Zahoui, only last week confirmed as the replacement for Sven Goran Eriksson, kept faith with his predecessor's choices.

The midfield pair of Kafoumba Coulibaly and Emerse Fae from French club Nice have both returned to the squad after being overlooked for South Africa.

Hehehehehehe, good news! Is Flo still suspended by France?

unfortunately this time we're out of luck:

Malouda back for France in Euro 2012 qualifiers

Coach Laurent Blanc has recalled in-form Chelsea winger Florent Malouda in his squad announced on Thursday to open the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Belarus and and Bosnia-Herzegovina on September 3 and 7.

Malouda was not considered for the friendly against Norway earlier this month as part of the punishment meted out by the French Football Federation (FFF) to the entire World Cup squad following the debacle in South Africa.

In total, nine of the World Cup squad earned recalls for the two qualifiers but there was no place for Jeremy Toulalan and Eric Abidal - two of the players seen as being among the ring-leaders in the training strike action that preceded the game against South Africa.
