Jose`s home record finally goes

Featured Replies

After 150 home games since Feb 23rd 2002 Jose has finally tasted defeat at home in a league game tonight to Sporting Gijon. That is an incredible record and one I think will never be matched.

what a record, bit of a blow to loose it to such a poor side but considering the teams he had faced at home it really is astonishing to see it last this long against all kinds of opposition.

fair play jose!

an incredible, unbelievable achievement. the fact he lost it to a relatively weak side shows just how amazing a record it is- how do you go so long without slipping up like that?

I guess it's a shame, but huge credit to Jose either way for a truly phenomenal record. It's just a pity (from one perspective, at least) that Jose at Real Madrid hasn't quite lived up to its billing as the clash of footballing destinies. At least not yet... I'm sure a 9-0 win over Tottenham wouldn't go amiss.

If you saw the match it just goes to emphasise what a miracle it was that the run got to 150 games. Gijon had one shot on target in the whole match and were under siege at the end but the ball just wouldn't go in.

Guardian article

It was just a question of whether we would score. They did not attack. They just defended, defended, defended. If I had wanted to draw 0-0 I would have done.
This was a bad result in the league but it would not be a bad result against Spurs. In fact, it would be a good result against Spurs. If we draw 0-0 with Spurs, it would not be a drama. Nil-nil at home is a good result. Even 1-1 is not a disaster. Our players will be fit [in 10 days' time for the return leg]. If we have to go to White Hart Lane to get a result, that is not a problem.

As you say, it was attack against defence but shows how incredible it is that this hasnt happened to Jose before now. A record that will surely never be beaten.

What a Record from the special one!

a 3rd of that record is with us remember!!!

There's not many managers who have managed Inter and never been beaten at home, and I don't remember ANY Chelsea manager never losing a home game, apart from WIlkins who was in charge for 1 game away to Watford so that doesn't count!

Well done Jose, I'm guessing he'd like to make it 1 lose in 18 years though!

Lets hope he never comes back to England, unless it's with Chelsea!

Just Jose's luck to lose to a team when pronounced properly on Sky's La Liga show, sounds like a donkey clearing it's throat.Top record though, please F.A,give him the England job.
