May 14, 201115 yr Modric would be a massive signing for us - although can't see it happening unless (as someone stated) we offered an absolutely huge fee to Spurs, doubt they'd want to sell one of their better plays to a bitter rival - even despite not being in the CL.
May 14, 201115 yr Am I the only one who doesn't think that highly of Luka Nodick? Good player, yes.. but worth paying Spurs probably 25+ million? No.
May 14, 201115 yr Am I the only one who doesn't think that highly of Luka Nodick? Good player, yes.. but worth paying Spurs probably 25+ million? No. Think you might be the only one, every top club wants the bloke hes class.
May 14, 201115 yr Think you might be the only one, every top club wants the bloke hes class. Dont get me wrong, if he was available and cheap, I'd have him here in a flash. But for 25m theres a couple of players I'd have ahead of him

But for 25m theres a couple of players I'd have ahead of him But he is proven in the Premier League and thus surely it'd be less of a risk than some of the other players you may be/are thinking about - I guess the main issue with Modric is that he doesn't score too many goals, but he doesn't half set up a few. Although he does remind me a fair amount of Yossi, just a younger, better version at the moment - doesn't seem to have an extensively long passing range but creativity is there in abundance.
May 14, 201115 yr If the player would be a long term replacement for lamps. .. We need a goalscorer. Lamps gives us 20 season (bar this season)

May 14, 201115 yr Modric is the key player for spuds, sets the tempo, wonderful on the ball, great passer, and can dig a bit, carries on the line of some great croatian players, maybe our no1 priority signing
May 14, 201115 yr In my opinion, the two players that have been talked about that are in the Lampard mould are Pastore and Hamsik. Both of have extremely impressive goal records and either would be a revelation in our midfield. Pastore is unlikely though as I reckon he'll go to Spain, so I think Hamsik is worth it.

May 14, 201115 yr Pastore will go to AC i think Really? I reckon it will be Pastore to Real, then Ganso to AC
May 14, 201115 yr There are a lot of people on twitter saying Pastore will be announced for AC Milan BUT people on twitter also say Neymar to us is a done deal, Lukaku has signed a pre-contract with Spurs, and Liverpool are close in on Aguero.
May 14, 201115 yr Aguero won't go to Liverpool. He said previously his favourite team in England is Liverpool, but that was when Maxi Rodriguez and Torres were there. I think it's still his favourite but his wage at the moment is still around double that of Liverpool's top earner.

They need to strengthen in other ppositions aswell imo
May 14, 201115 yr Aguero seems content to stay in Madrid, wish he had more ambition! Regarding Modric, he is probably the signing I would like to see the most. I would love to see his vision and passes being put to use with our strikers, not the garbage that Spurs have for a strikeforce.
May 14, 201115 yr Juventus are after Aguero as well and from what I've heard they have the money to spend on him.
May 14, 201115 yr I understand i may be the only one but i really do think that Modric is nothing more than a good player playing for a decent PL-side. Decent little player but not Chelsea-standard if you ask me. Aguero or Neymar on the other hand is future world-beaters and we really should make an effort on at least one of those two.
May 14, 201115 yr Juventus are after Aguero as well and from what I've heard they have the money to spend on him. But why would he go there? Only two clubs worth considering in Italy right now are the Milans', AC and Inter.
May 14, 201115 yr But why would he go there? Only two clubs worth considering in Italy right now are the Milans', AC and Inter. You never know. He has shown that he's okay with playing for a mid-table team so he doesn't have to go to a big club. Besides, the board at Juventus have said that they are now going to spend quite a lot of money to make the team return to the top of Serie A, so maybe Aguero wouldn't mind being a part of that. And we don't know how many teams will actually go for him this summer. Maybe there wont be too many and then if Juventus offer more money than the rest, you never know what will happen. Truth be told I have a hard time seeing him go to Juventus, but stranger things have happened. Hopefully we will find a way to get him though. Having him and Neymar as wingers in a 4-3-3 with Drogba or Torres in the centre could be amazing.
May 15, 201115 yr If the player would be a long term replacement for lamps. .. We need a goalscorer. Lamps gives us 20 season (bar this season) Got anyone in mind? I actually think it's wrong to try and replace like for like. How about a midfielder that would consistantly link up with the strikers and cause them to score goals. I think we have to realise that Lampard is a truly exceptional midfielder, and we'd be very lucky to replace him. Therefore, we'd be better off trying to build a midfield that can absorb attacks, then counter with swift movement and posession. Scott

Therefore, we'd be better off trying to build a midfield that can absorb attacks, then counter with swift movement and posession. Scott I agree. Can't think of anyone in the world like Lampard. Maybe there's some trequartista who might score a lot of goals, but a midfielder who's almost a two-way player who scores 20 goals every season? No way. I can barely think of any wingers who do it even. The only one I can imagine who has come close is Gerrard, but even he never really reached Lampard standard and he's going downhill as well. Besides, signing Gerrard would cause a lot of vomit in the Chelsea area of London and that can't be nice. And Bluebeard would explode, which would be a nasty business. However, it would be a nice kick in the balls on all the scousers. First Torres and then Gerrard. They would die :) Anyway. The best we can do is trying to get someone who might score around 10-15 goals or so each season and who are creative enough to not only set goals up, but also go one on one with opponents, then it would be great. I doubt we can find someone like that who are good defensively as well, but having an Essien back to his old self and Ramires to help him, then our midfield would be fine.

I think it's still his favourite but his wage at the moment is still around double that of Liverpool's top earner. I really can't see any team in the Premiership that would need/want Aguero - If you look at the top 6 season, the only teams that would realistically be interested are Arsenal and Tottenham and I just can't see him going to either of them. Looking at the squads of Us, United, City or Liverpool, we've all got options in his position already and buying him for the silly-ish money that Atletico will be after is just stupid. If he leaves Atletico, it'll probably be to Italy IMO.

Quick, eye for goal and can head the ball. Oh, and he passes too.

But I have a feeling Eden Hazard could be our man
