Blackburn target Van Nistelrooy deal

Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has revealed to ESPNsoccernet that he is eager to sign Hamburg forward Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Blackburn had attempted to sign Van Nistelrooy, 34, from Real Madrid in 2009 but then-manager Sam Allardyce was forced to admit defeat as the club could not match his wage demands.

However, Blackburn owners Venky's have been eager to make a marquee signing and, with Van Nistelrooy out of contract at the end of the season, Kean, who was at Emirates Stadium to watch Scotland take on Brazil in Sunday's friendly, told ESPNsoccernet: "Yes, I can confirm we are interested."

Michel Salgado, who spent ten years with Madrid before joining Blackburn in 2009, has a good relationship with Van Nistelrooy and it is hoped that he will help lure the striker to Ewood Park.

Van Nistelrooy - who was denied the chance to return to the Bernabeu in January when Hamburg blocked the move - has said he would welcome the chance to return to England.

"I am thinking about a nice club in England after this season, or a club in Spain, but I don't think Real Madrid will come again after their efforts to bring me back in the January transfer window," Van Nistelrooy said in the Sunday Mirror.

"I have decided that if a really big European club does approach me, I will accept a role as reserve striker. I would have accepted that too if the deal with Real Madrid had come off in January."

So he's coming up on a free in the summer and is happy to play a backup role - would we be interested? I haven't seen much of him since he left Madrid, so I don't know how good he actually is anymore.

is he from brazil? if not then this thread isnt worth creating ;)

Haha, pretty sure that "Diego Ribas" is the player we all know as "Diego", formerly of Bremen, Juventus, and now at Wolfsburg.

Not sure what this thread is really getting at though...

I'm watching him when Shaktar plays Barca. Should be interesting to see what he does.

Watch, he'll score a goal against Barca and raise his transfer fee by about 5 million pounds.

Not much on youtube about this kid, this goal is nice though:

Still not much to the story, but it looks like plays on the right wing, could be someone worth keeping an eye on if Sanchez doesn't come here.

I thought I would have a look at him when he faced Barcelona, but now I've realised that we play ManU at the same time. Bugger :(

I realized the same thing earlier, wish that game was this afternoon.

Strange that we even have this topic in the rumours section. He is apparently heading to Blackburn and we aren't even linked, some thought before posting a topic will only be in the best interest of this forum.

Not an unreasonable request. The reason I posted it was that whilst there has been no mention of us getting him, I wondered whether people thought he was still any good and whether we should get involved. I guess it was an unnecessary post, but figured that if people didn't want to talk about it then it would just drop off of the forum as nobody replied.

Chelsea may move for Brazil U17 champion Wallace

Fluminense’s 16-year-old defender, Wallace, may make a switch to Europe before kicking a ball for his professional team in Rio.

When Deco moved from Chelsea to Flu, the London club bought 40% of Wallace’s economic rights. The right back played a significant part in Brazil’s Under 17s success in Ecuador, and this could prompt an early transfer to Chelsea.
