Was in the shed for my first game Liverpool F A cup 78 experienced same things you mentioned. Took ages from the pavement across the forecourt up to the turnstiles.

Learnt quickly regarding watching when the horse wanted to p”!s and s”’t!!!! Even when packed together there was always room when people didn’t want to get covered!!

Got locked out same fixture 1979 Petar Borota debut. sh*t season but the gates at the pavement closed before 2pm

Only experienced the queuing cup run 82 and when travelling away. Was so much fun and as The rising Sun states it was part of the day and atmosphere

The horses were like magnets weren't they, you always seemed to be moving towards them no matter what you did!

Too true Richard, the whole day , not just the game, was all part of the experience! 👍

. When were the last occasions on which English football league grounds had attendances in excess of 50,000, 60,000 and 70,000?

A. I recollect standing on the high terrace, now a three-tier stand, at Stamford Bridge, watching an FA Cup replay between Chelsea and Spurs shortly after the death of the great John White during the 1964-65 season. Chelsea, fielding a young Terry Venables, won an exciting match 2-0 in front of a reported crowd of more than 72,000, with an estimated further 10,000 being locked out. - Ian V Cooper, Southend on Sea

Cardiff away on 31st March 1984.

We came back to draw 3-3 from being 3-0 down after 25 mins.

It was still 3-0 until King Kerry scored in the 84th min.Colin Lee made it 3-2 a minute later.

Nigel Spackman scored our equaliser from the penalty spot in the 90th min.

And there was a ‘wee bit of a disagreement’ on the terraces…
