None of my business, but Mary Brown was perhaps influential in his losing his job. He did stay with her till the end of his life. Anyone caught out back then, received the blunt of terrace grief/ humour

Tommy once had a close relationship in a carwash ! From Manchester newspaper below..

On the previous Saturday,6th Marc , we’d played and beaten Peterborough 5-1 at The Bridge,in the FA Cup 6th Round.

The official crowd for that Peterborough game was 63,635!

Obviously he ended up with us. Certainly liked a tackle

Very nice guy Micky Droy, used to live on the same estate back in 74/75ish. Our family had just moved down from London and bought house on a new build estate down in Surrey, Micky and his wife bought just around the corner on the same estate. They didn't stay that long before moving on but My Dad got to know him quite well through walking the dog, the Droy's had two great big Red Setters at the time.

Always made me laugh though as being such a huge bloke he had this really small little light green car, wouldn't have looked out of place in Wacky Races lol, can't remember the name or model of the thing but something I think known as a Gogomobile . or at least something similar looking.

Seem to think Bates accused West Ham of not covering the pitch so it would freeze as it suited them to have the match postponed. I got to Charing Cross around 10 to learn it was off, so headed for Covent Garden and light refreshments. The rescheduled match was around March/April and a I think a 1-1 draw with Speedo scoring in front us rammed in the South Bank. It got very lively down in the corner where the South Bank met the Chicken Run.
