January 30, 201214 yr 1975-76 Another big crowd at the Bridge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moHoyXAFvuM&feature=youtu.be My most disappointing moment as a Chelsea fan. Dejected, elated and uttererly dejected. Shame there's no Jimmy Hill leading off about the kung-fu kick in the footage!

January 31, 201214 yr Brilliant pics, i'm actually looking for the same sort of pics from the Utd game that same season, i've been told Utd had loads & loads of fans in our west stand, jumped up when they scored & Chelsea fans didnt do a thing which i find hard to believe seeing as the west stand was the place our "hoolifans" moved to once the east lower gate 13 had become a family enclosure, i remember West Ham & Arsenal in the west in 87 but not Utd in 88, i'd love to see the west in the background after one of their goals just to see if any Utd are up celebrating like they claim to be. I think the second to last one of those Liverpool 1988 photos may have been taken directly after Liverpool scored. I'm pretty sure John Barnes scored a 30-yard free-kick in that game and looks as if the Chelsea players are walking away from goal after conceding. It looks like Joe McLaughlin kicking the ball out with the keeper (Hitchc0ck?) sitting dejected on the ground. Can't see any cheeky, salt of the earth Scousers cheering in the west though.
February 1, 201214 yr > The greatest footage of an away support celebrating a goal ......EVER ! (referring to Arsenal Chelsea). Actually I one that comes close on Betamax. Sheff Weds v Norwich 81-82, Norwich took over 20 000 to Sheffield for the promotion clincher. There was something about seeing a team who used to average 2000 for a home game take ten times that to an away game. I know it was on The Big Match and fair enough it was not Chelsea, but that is one game I wish I could see again. (Need to find a Betamax repair man in Northern Sweden).
February 1, 201214 yr > I'm pretty sure that the Oldham game was Ron Harris' last match for us, after which we were sweating on Westham getting a result at Roker Park 2 days after winning the cup, needless to say the 'ammers surrendered meekly as lambs which left us missing out on promotion on goal difference. West Ham played Sunderland away, correct. Monday night and as you said 2 days after winning the cup. The FA should have cancelled the procession in East London. But it went ahead the day before the most important West Ham game of the season. West Ham players were drinking for a day. Then the journey up to Roker Park. I did not want to rely on LBC reports every 30 minutes so I went to Sunderland! - West Ham took about 50 fans up. (Two days after winning the cup). The match was a farce. They kicked the ball around. I stood in the Fuller end with the Sunderland fans. Pop Robson had played for both teams so he was just helping the Sunderland team. It was kind of understood that Sunderland had to win but they had to make it look good. The young West Ham full back nearly scored and Pop had words with him. A signal to the bench and the full back was substituted. West Ham fans turned their back on the game and sung "we hate football, we hate football". (Two days after winning the cup, thank god they have not won nothing since - the intertotty cup does not count). So we were not promoted and I had a long lonely journey back to London and another season in the second. Still pleased to this day I went and maybe surprised no other Chelsea fan went that night.
February 1, 201214 yr Hi Garry Are you still in Sweden? Have you got any info on Swedish TV and Tipsextra? I want to pursue the Liverpool 3-1 Cheers

Funny you should mention celebrations by a team other than Chelsea but there's one other which really sticks in my mind and that's a Villa/Birmingham match from the mid 1970's. I sort of remember impressive celebrations by both sets of fans due to the size of the terracing at both ends in the days before the old way end at Villa Park was turned into a Lego stand with a small terrace at the front. I've never checked to see if it's on Youtube but will do one day, I think it finished 2-2 but it's a distant memory so I could be completely wrong about it all.

February 1, 201214 yr Villa against Brum matches (on either ground) last finished 2-2 in 2004 and 1955. Villa vs Birmingham at Villa Park League: Nothing from 1987-2002. 1-2 12.12.87 0-3 22.3.86 1-0 15.10.83 1-0 4.4.83 0-0 26.9.81 3-0 13.12.80 1-0 3.3.79 0-1 1.10.77 1-2 18.9.76 2-1 27.9.75 Then nothing till 69 They met in the FA cup in 1887 and 1901 and amazingly these two teams have avoided each other in the FA Cup ever since. (111 years and counting). The league cup has had them together in 63, 88, 93 and 2010. And one match in the Simod Cup in 1988. I think you might mean Birmingham's goal in the October 1977 match. But this is the lego stand you refer to I guess? Here is a match Villa v Brighton in 71 with the end you refer to. (Unless the camera is on the other side of the ground, the lego stand used to be to the right on tv matches, didn't it?). And getting this back on track. Villa v Chelsea 17th September 1966 We won 6-2 and had great away support even back then. Amazing footage.
February 1, 201214 yr Hi Garry Are you still in Sweden? Have you got any info on Swedish TV and Tipsextra? I want to pursue the Liverpool 3-1 Cheers I just wrote to SVT. I asked for the match. I also suggested that they started a program with Tipsextra revisited and showed the old classic matches from the 70's. I will get back to you with their answer.

It must have been the 1975 game, that stand in front of the away terrace ( yes it was always on the right on TV although I think in the Chelsea and Brighton matches you posted it's on the left) hadn't been built. February 1, 201214 yr 1970-71 Oh for an Alan Hudson in our team now, crying shame that he never quite hit the heights he was capable of.

If my maths is up to scratch that game was 18 days before my first solo game at the Bridge against Leeds, got taken to one game in 69/70, and spent 70/71 on apprenticeship at local non league, Palace and Fulham, and remember hearing a lot of talk about the Rangers fans at the Bridge, sounded very naughty.
