March 15, 20206 yr Our first ever League Cup Final was today 55 years ago. The first did leg anyway and on a Monday night too ! Monday 15th March 1965 at 7:30pm at The Bridge v Leicester City. We won the first leg 3-2 with Bobby Tambling 34th min, Terry Venables 70th min with a pen and Eddie McCreadie 81st min our scorers. Allan Young went off injured after 13 mins. so with no subs allowed at that date. We played rest of game with 10 men. Edited March 15, 20206 yr by erskblue

March 15, 20206 yr not 1070Ersk, which one is William the Conqueror ? look at the mini bus picture at the bridge........must admit did not realise the internal combustion engine was invented in 1070. Thought it was a german chap called Daimler in his garden shed in Stuttgart in the late 1800s. Learning every day.

Ah right so I was only 900 years out. Just double checked and realised I put 1070 not 1970 !

The North Stand had been demolished and replaced by open terracing for standing supporters. This match saw a great crowd of 55,003 ! I do wonder if thosein that picture were officially counted. Not bad for Division 2.
March 16, 20206 yr Think this has been posted on here before. Just enjoy looking at pictures of what and how big The Bridge was like, before the redevelopment.
March 16, 20206 yr Apologies for size of above picture. The original photo caption states. 'Cheering fans at Chelsea FC v Notts County FC match at Stamford Bridge, London, UK, 25th August 1976.'
