Portsmouth vs Chelsea (friendly) 16/7/11 KO 15:00

Featured Replies

Not the easiest of games, because Portsmouth aren't that bad. It will be interesting to see what we can do and I've longed to see Chelsea play again so this game can't come soon enough.

Do anyone know where it will be shown?

Sorry guys, couldn't work out how to edit my post?

Anyway, William Hill are taking bets.

It's my sons first game, so I said I'd let him put a quid or two on who scores first, even though it's

quite unpredictable in a friendly.

Looking forward to this tremendously. For a friendly, it should be a cracker, with atmosphere to match. From the pre-match build-up on the official site:

Chelsea's allocation of just under 3,000 tickets has sold out for Saturday's game. Famed for its atmosphere, a near-full Fratton Park is bound to kick-start the pre-season campaign in style. 'We've sold nearly 15,000 tickets now, which for a pre-season friendly is lovely, it's perhaps a reflection of a renewed enthusiasm in Pompey. The fans have been brilliant really, all the way along,' says Mark Storey.(from the official Portsmouth FC site)

I shall be leaving in about an hour, not too far for me on the train.

Weather is a bit crap mind.

I'd be happy to see Josh and Torres start today, it's going to be a big season for them.

Come on the Chels.

Please delete the link if it is not allowed here moderators, but looks like we are actually going to see the game. Already number of links to streams here:

Assuming Lampard is back I guess it should be

---------------Mikel------

----Benayoun---Lampard---

Yeah, you're probably on the money with that. I'd imagine Villas-Boas will be looking to give gametime to a few players though, so hopefully we'll be seeing plenty of subs with the youngsters mixed in with the senior players.

Did anyone just see Josh walking next to jt in the build up on Chelsea tv? He looks RIDICULOUSLY skinny. I wonder how that will effect his chances at chelsea... Will be a shame if he doesn't bulk up as he definitely has the talent. Or am I over reacting? What are your thoughts?

It is the first chance to see a Chelsea side picked by Andre Villas-Boas, live on Chelsea TV.

The manager has opted for a mix of youth and experience as he seeks to give more pre-season minutes to his players following Tuesday's 3-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers.

Daniel Sturridge makes his first appearance having returned to training on Thursday following an extended holiday, while Frank Lampard is among the substitutes.

Fernando Torres starts up front with Sturridge and Florent Malouda either side.

Chelsea will line-up in the following 4-3-3 formation:

22 Ross Turnbull

19 Paulo Ferreira

2 Branislav Ivanovic

35 Tomas Kalas

3 Ashley Cole

47 Billy Clifford

12 John Mikel Obi

18 Yury Zhirkov

23 Daniel Sturridge

9 Fernando Torres

15 Florent Malouda

Subs: 40 Hilario, 32 Carl Magnay, 62 Nathaniel Chalobah, 26 John Terry, 17 Jose Bosingwa, 38 Patrick van Aanholt, 34 Ryan Bertrand, 44 Kaby, 10 Yossi Benayoun, 8 Frank Lampard, 7 Milan Lalkovic, 39 Nicolas Anelka, 11 Didier Drogba

The Portsmouth team is as follows:

Henderson, Ben-Haim, Rocha, Mokoena, Hreidarsson, Mullins, Varney, Halford, Kitson, Norris, Ben-Haim.

Subs: Ashdown, Pearce, Magri, Williams, Stockford

The referee is Keith Stroud.

Am i the only one that can`t see Josh anywhere?
