He ripped Newcastle's management, saying players should be allowed to "tell it like it is" without being fined like Jose Enrique. Maybe he is going to have a little rant, or say he put in a transfer request

Well the price is certainly right. We could do a lot worse.

Could do a lot better as well. Would be more trouble than worth imo.

Rumour has it that Everton are interested, which would make all kinds of sense. He'd be a scouser going back home, and Moyes doesn't seem the kind of character to tolerate any of his bullsh*t.

I can't believe some of you are actually suggesting we go for him. I wouldn't ever want to see him in a Chelsea shirt, even if Newcastle paid us to take him.

He has got to be admired for his turn around surely despite being scouse.

He had a good as season and Luka Modric 5 goals and something rediclous like 45 assists..... Torres could be on the end of some of them dont you think ?

He got 9 assists... thats not bad but lets not compare Barton to Modric. Thats just a ridiculous comparison.

I dont want to see him anywhere close to us. He might be a decent player but we already got enough CM´s that are similiar to him and I really dont see what he could add to the squad except some depth coming off the bench. Not the sort of players we should be looking at if we want to improve our XI

Firstly, I'm not saying he'd be a guaranteed starter. But as a squad player, we'd have a bargain. With Essien looking to be out injured for at least 6 months, Mikel away for the African Cup Of Nations, we might not be was well off for central midfielders as we think. Unless AVB does manage to substantially alter MIkel's game, he'd also provide more of an attacking option.

So while I agree that he's no Modric, on a free and with substantially lower wages, all prejudice aside, we could do a lot worse. And he'd be home grown. I do however, think that he's far more likely to end up at another Northern club, with either of the Merseyside clubs looking a reasonable bet.

On-pitch turn around or not, he's a thug and a c**t and I would be disgusted with the club if we even so much as made an offer to him.
