I just read that the reason why Darren Gibson, Johnny Evans and Wayne Rooney were not even on the bench for ManU's last game against Blackburn was because they were out boozing on Boxing Day.

I commend SAF for doing this, and think that AVB, with his lack of backbone (such as by continuing to play Drogba, Malouda, and others who have no business wearing a Chelsea shirt any more) would never do that.

Hopefully, AVB will read that story, and grow a backbone.

As you can tell, I am still pissed off at our performance yesterday and over the past week, and put much of the blame on the wonderkid AVB.

So much supposition and maybes, perhaps`s etc. I really wish people would stop comparing a young manager who has been at a club for 6 months with one who is possibly the most powerful manager around.

Right. It's a lot easier to drop first-team players when you know you'll survive losing 3-2 at home to Blackburn.

If he'd played Gibson and Evans, he would have had a central midfield of Carrick (who wouldn't have had to play centre-back) and Gibson; without them, he wound up playing Park and Rafael. As central midfielders.

So yes, in the context of Ferguson's refusal to buy good CMs, I think they are first-team players.

He isnt in his first season at a club who has a reputation for being trigger happy when it comes to sacking managers. SAF has been at united long enough that if he has a bad season or two he will still be there to correct it, so he can afford to take risks with selection.

SAF done it in his first season, it was his way or the highway!

If AVB got tough with some of our (so called) stars, they might realise that they have to do things his way!

You mean doing something like dropping Lampard from the starting eleven?

I think the OP picked a terrible example to be honest, because had United lined up with those three it's very likely they wouldn't have lost at Blackburn, IMO of course. Especially since (as Katon said) they needed to line up with Park and Rafael in central midfield.

What Fergie did isn't so much having a backbone, it's being pig-headed to the point he pretty much cut off his nose to spite his face. Not that that saying actually makes an awful lot of sense ^_^

Come on, as if he will do that.

Or maybe even do it on a consistant level, or maybe not listen when Lampard bleats in an interview, as much as I can't stand red nose, his players would just not do that!

When was the last time Lampard started a match Meireles and Ramires were both available for? AVB's made it pretty clear that Frank's our first central midfielder off the bench in the current squad.

He has.

No he hasn't he has chopped and changed and not settled!

Lampard had a bit of a whinge after the City game and got picked for the Wigan game where he was woeful! He was rightly dropped again!

TBH I just didn't like the answer to the interviewer after the City game, it showed he thinks he's bigger than the team!

No it doesnt, it doesnt show anything of the sort. It shows he was dissappointed not to have played, and I dont mind that at all. Why do people try and read things that simply arent there?

I couldn't disagree more. The criticism AVB is attracting is for his treatment of Torres, Lampard, Alex, Anelka and so on. As for continuing to play Malouda, not sure that's true. Malouda is back-up to Mata and Sturridge but while we lack better options what do you want him to do? You bemoan the use of Drogba but Torres has hardly been on fire. I think this criticism is wide of the mark, whereas other criticisms have more validity.

It applied pressure, you don't find a Manure player doing or saying the same things!

Erm, yes you do. How did that Rooney thing go again a few months ago? And Im fairly sure Fergie backed down in that one and Rooney got a new record contract.

All I'm saying is that Frank could have been a bit more diplomatic in his answers, he did it again today, mentioning how long he's been at the club and that he wants to play, of course he wants to play we know that, but sometimes its better to shut your mouth and let your feet do the talking!

Would a more diplomatic answer not be "I want to play, but I'm here for the manager however he wants to use me!"

Thats the stock answer you get from Manure players!

So AVB's a coward for playing Drogba but a mean, vicious bully for banishing Anelka and Alex?

Hmmm. Something does not compute.
