The Brit
Honestly, why has she sold so many albums...every time I here that 'someone like you' song on the radio come on I have to switch off...no wonder he left you you depressing cow... it just amazes me how much middle of the road stuff sells...when mtv or whatever does a countdown of biggest selling songs you will see acts like Will Young, Gareth Gates even bloody Hearsay have sold more than genuine top class acts... so many losers fall for these non-talent shows and lap up their bland music....loved it when rage against the machine beat the non-x factor to xmas no.1 a few years back... anyway back to adele...think she's sold more than thriller in the country now...we should hang our heads in shame (although looks like her disease has spread across the globe) http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/4316772/Adeles-21-is-worlds-biggest-selling-album-of-the-past-year.html
matamarryme
I don't think Adele is a bland act, I mean I don't particularly like her, but I can see how her music sells. I understand your argument but each to their own, in the perfect world our favourite songs would always be in the Top 40 and never hear of One Direction or that Justin Beaver kid. That's just not going to happen unfortunately. I'm 18 and stereo-typically I should like all the bands of today, of course I do like some artists of this generation but thats only natural, however I'd rather listen to The Kinks - proper music - than someone average like B.o.B or Tulisa.. I do think it's wrong how Adele has sold more albums than Thriller. It is a shame as there are some brilliant albums which are being over-looked by mediocre acts. andy
It's women mate they love the depressing stuff (sorry if I sound sexist or sterotypicalist) ..... But they love it ! They have a bad day at work they slap a bit of Adele on in the car to depress them more then by the time they get home all men are bar stewards and you're one of them.......then just to cheer them selves up a bit further the put on a bit of Eastenders then top it up with casualty or some other depressing sh*tewith sick kiddies. Then moan if you want to stay up and watch MOTD ;) (null)
ethicalstrategy
I agree with the general sentiment, but whether you like his music or not, Will Young is certainly not average.

I just had to go to Youtube to listen to an Adele song to see what it's like ( I tend to protect myslef from manufactured pop) and I'd put her down as a very third rate version of a wonderful singer of the 80's - Alison Moyet
PloKoon13
The only problem is, I doubt there is a single musical act in the world that we could all agree on being a 'class act'. (The exception to the rule being CCR of course)
The Moos
Don't see why she should hang her head in shame. She's not the one buying her album. Anyway, I like her music. Wouldn't say she's the best artist ever or that her album is the best ever made, but it's far, far from the worst. I think it's good and I can see why people would buy it. Maksimov
I'm not a huge fan of Adele, but if she should hang her head in shame, then I'm not sure what Red Hot Chili Peppers should do. They've committed a bigger kind of crime by starting out edgy and (fairly) interesting and then progressing on to make songs so bland, they're the musical equivalent of Bud Lite.
