blue man Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I just read something about Sheva snubbing MLS to work under Roman,i would love that to be true, any thoughts lads.
Gem Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Someone has to have a quip about teaching Torres finishing or something.
gee Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Wouldn't want him on the coaching team. Di Matteo should choose who he wants to work with. Sheva and Abramovich are apparently good friends and I don't really care if he takes up some position at the club that doesn't really mean much. A bit like Vieira at City, but maybe not even relevant as that.
blue man Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 I'm all for old chelsea player's coming back to the the club in some form or another.
mhlower47 Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I'd heard that he has said he'd like to have a try at getting a tour card on one of the Professional Golf tours. He's supposedly got a +3 or 4 handicap. When he was with us he lived on the Wentworth Estate.
Ballack & Blu Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Sheva, passing on his magic and experience could be a godsend,we seen him here at the death of his career, how much to buy him when he was 22???
SydneyChelsea Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Great players rarely pass on their magic. The problem is that the instinct that makes a great player is so unconscious and automatic that it's very hard to teach to someone.
mclovin83 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Not against it as long as he doens't interfere with Di Matteo and team affairs in that way. He is a respected figure and always seemed like a very down to earth and likeable chap so not got aproblem with him having a role at the club...
Uno Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I read he will join in the youth team management. Could be a nice way to have him get his badges.
blizeH Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 One of the greatest strikers I've ever seen, such a shame he didn't work out here, though I'll never forget his goal against Tottenham! Would love to see him on board as a coach.
Granticus Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I think it'd be an amazing thing for the younger players to work with somebody like him. He may not be able to create clones of himself, but he certainly has a lot of knowledge to pass on.
dkw Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 People need to ignore his time with us, before then he was one of the best strikers in world football and could have a hell of a lot of knowledge to pass on, though great player doesnt always equal great coach. It will be interesting to see exactly what role he will fill, he could easily just be joining to do his badges as many other players do at clubs.
The Moos Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Him and Torres a bit the same. Bought for loads of money, didn't score as much as we hoped but never complained and did their best to get back on track. Hopefully Torres, unlike Sheva, will become a big goal scorer for us. I still have lots of respect for Sheva, even if he didn't make it here, though his goals against Sweden did make me curse his name.
Uno Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 The slight difference for me is Sheva always looked like he was trying. Always working for the team. I remember one game he cleared the ball off our goal line and celebrated like he had just scored the winning goal. It was classic!
