Player Ratings v Juventus

Featured Replies

Cech 7/10 I didn't really notice him. May have done better for one of their goals but can't really be blamed. Came out smartly in the first half I seemed to recall when one of their players beat the offside trap.

Ivanovic 6/10 I really love him but he's not at his best. Shall we give him a 6? Had a good shot in the first-half.

Cole 8/10 Definitely his best game this season. Really impressive, confident performance. Bits of skill, eager to go forward, very alert defensively. I'm going to go for 8. What do you say .. ?

Luiz 6/10 I don't think this guy is ever going to convince me but I still love him. I think he should be a stand-up comedian.

Terry 7/10 Apparently at fault for their equaliser, I can't really comment, I was too busy screaming obscenities at Mikel. I don't think he's helped by having Luiz beside him, personally. Still, Luiz is a funny guy. There are some wonderful clips of him on youtube and I watch them regularly, because they make me laugh.

Mikel 5/10 It's hard for me to comment. I just don't rate him. I think he is poor. Really really poor. If he were playing for Southampton, would any of the big boys want him, or more to the point, would Southampton want him, that is the question.

Lampard 6/10 Robbie needs to drop Lampard and Mikel. Come on son, you are the manager. Not Lampard's worst game this season but where once we were intimidating in midfield we are now weak. Lampard will have a crucial role this season but it's high time somebody else got a break, and that man is ..

Ramires 7/10 Put him in midfield Robbie. Stop messing around. Not Rambo's worst game this season by any stretch but he would be so much more useful in midfield. Robbie, you're ignoring me and I don't like it. The wife can ignore me but not you.

Torres 5/10 Thought he was very poor. I've put my thoughts in the Torres thread. Suffice to say if we are relying on him this season we are in serious trouble. Danny deserves a chance. That's 3 games on the bounce he's done poorly. I know people will blame everybody but him but I lay the blame firmly at his door. A great striker would make all the difference. No goalscoring threat whatsoever.

Hazard 6/10 Not his night. He's been a bit off the last 3 games too.

Oscar 8/10 He looked very promising. Started off slowly but little bits of skill were evident. He's sharp, he's fast, he's determined, he's intelligent, he's brave and he's very, very good. Let's hope his ankle injury isn't serious as he deserves to stay in the team on this performance. Davey Baby says, "Me likey, me likey".

Subs ..

Bertrand 6/10 Would have preferred to see Moses.

Mata 7/10 I actually thought he did well. He missed a chance but the build-up play was terrific and he stroked the ball around very well.

Did another sub come on? I can't remember. A 7 to anyone I've forgotten.

Robbie? Looking a bit out of his depth. Strange to say seeing as we're top of the league, but we have looked far from convincing. Tactically, I thought they outthought us. Their midfield runners were finding gaps in behind us and we did nothing to stop it. I'm also unimpressed by his team selections recently, namely his persistence with Mikel and Lampard, but also his refusal to give Danny minutes. Still, I'm very glad he's our manager, he won the CL and he deserves a shot. Once they equalised, I couldn't see any Real Madrid heroics occurring tonight. I was more worried they would go on and win. It just looked like something was missing. We weren't bad, far from it, but it is very much a work in progress at the moment.

The flag? Looked very impressive from where I was sitting. Admittedly that was in my armchair ..

Cech 7/10

Ivanovic 5/10

Cole 8/10 - great game and 2nd best player tonight

Luiz 6/10

Terry 7/10

Mikel 3/10 - lazy, no concentration, a shambles of a player, typical

Lampard 6/10

Ramires 6/10

Torres 4/10 - invisible

Hazard 6/10

Oscar 9/10 - game changer. off the ball movement, positioning, work rate, passing, creativity. plus when he was on the pitch pirlo was non-existent

yes that's a big reason why he so impressive tonight. he's not the biggest lad obviously but the work rate to man mark pirlo and put in that offensive display is very promising - even with brazil i saw him hound players a good amount and he seems to have a knack for pinching the ball of players (good anticipation)

Don't disagree with much you've put their tonight Davey but would score Luiz a mark higher and Mikel a mark lower!

Couple of other points.

Hazard looked 10 times better when Mata came on.

Robbie needs to be braver with subs!

I agree with all of that. I was a bit hard on Luiz.

Pretty much the same as Davey but Luiz 7 & Terry 6 thought Luiz looked much sharper than Terry tonight. And Oscar Id give him a 9 . The sky sports pundits were talking trash. He struck the 1st one sweet even if it did get a deflection he took the chance. He did intend the skill to completely disregard one of the worlds greatest midfielders and then to spin and bury it top corner. To near enough mark Pirlo out of the 1st half. He was a menace off the ball hounding opp players . Playing clever passes and all within 70 mins on his home debut start in the C L. That's gotta be worth a 9 !

I was at the game tonight and as you will all know sometimes its tough to get a view on everything, but was the Referee like a 3 out of 10 tonight, looked like he got lots wrong both ways!

Cech 6

Ivan 6

Luiz 7

Terry 6

Cole 7

Mikel 4

Lampard 4 (just drop him, please)

Oscar 8

Hazard 6

Ramires 5 (he is not a RW for f**k sake, play him alongside Mikel)

Torres 6

Cech 6

Ivan 6

Luiz 7

Terry 7

Cole 9 - superb.

Mikel 4 - decent, but the sloppy pass hurt us.

Lampard 5

Ramires 3 - has to play central, not a winger - wasting a starting position out there.

Oscar 8

Hazard 7

Torres 6 - not a bad match whilst isolated against juve's big 3.

I hate how people are solely blaming Mikel for the goal. Yes, it was a bad pass but it doesn't mean our defense can fall asleep straight afterwards.

I'm not blaming just him, it was a poor pass - but JT's decision to play offside was poor and the rest were caught napping.

Mikel fell asleep straight afterwards too, in case you didn't notice. In terms of falling asleep, he was the main culprit in that particular incident. In fact I think you'll find he was in a deep slumber. He even thinks about intercepting the pass at one point, then decides he'd far rather go back to his snooze.

Earlier Mikel was the one to track back and block a shot after an Ivanovic balls up yet this has never been mentioned.

Wasn't that Ashley Cole who got back to put Vucinic under pressure? The simple facts are we have to stop giving the ball away in dangerous positions with sloppy play.
