"Optimistic so far in the attitude and work rate of the players". Of course I'm hoping for a Chelsea win but that would be a realistic prediction based on how these 2 teams are performing so far. Come on.. picking at comments on a Friday afternoon.. Relax my friend, make a cup of tea.

Time to make a statement. At home against a decent Liverpool side. I've been optimistic so far in the attitude and work rate of the players. The gaffer's influence is clear to see so far, however..... I fail to follow the pundits and hype regarding Chelsea's "excellent" performances and claims of being title challengers! We need to start playing expansive football because considering the wealth of talent in the team, on the ball we are still way off the mark. In this aspect Liverpool are ahead of us in my opinion. We have the fighting spirit back and players that are capable of changing the game in a moment, yet collectively going forward as a team we seem to be a bit stagnant, hesistant and lost for ideas. Hopefully this will happen gradually, desperate to see identity, style and a way of playing football back at the club. Praisng the work rate and odd moment of brilliance in a player will only suffice for so long. The abcense of Fabregas doesn't help this case yet Oscar has statistically made more key passes and tackles so far per game then in his previous seasons at the club. So whos to argue? Would like to see Oscar and Fab infront of Kante yet doubt Conte will opt for this due the physical precense of Matic. We need to feed the govenor! Chelsea 2 Liverpool 2

Hope it doesnt come back to bite us on the ass. On the plus side when you look at the team set out to play and who he's thrown on the bench it seems as though were on the all out attack.

Pedro's been a lively spark lately would be great to see him keep up the momentum! No Centre half cover on the bench, what happens if Ivan or Cahill pick up an injury first half? Mikel?

I dont think Costa is the right man for the Chelsea job. We need someone a bit more explosive, composed finisher with quick acceleration. Costa seems a bit too laboured for the premier league, doesnt seem like a player who will create a bit of magic from nothing. We need someone more dynamic like Benzema? I like the look of Chilies forward who scored the first vs Spain or even Chicarito, I think hed be prolofic at Chelsea.

I cant believe my eyes, I went from reading rumours Cech is being transfer listed , thought I'd jump on the Shed End forum to see fans outraged and find there's a poll with majority of fans preferring Courtois and casually dismissing Cech. Cech is a far more professional keeper. He's easily got a gd couple of years left at the top level. This is literally upsetting me from loosing Mata to Super Frank, Ashley Cole? and possibly Cech. Good professional, experienced role models who cared about the club. I cant say the same for some of our other first team players.

So based on this he should be involved tomorrow night , I see no logic in him missing the Liverpool game to be an used sub tomorrow night!

I disagree with many of you! Based on this season he's been as good as any left back in Europe. A left backs primary role is to defend. He's an absolute hound! His passing from the back has also been very accurate and intelligent. I think its a crime he wasn't in the PFA team of the season. Luke sure (no pun) has put in some brilliant performances yet over the course of the season Dave has been a much better defender imo. I think people need to get off of the likes of Lahm or Alba's di*k for a minute and realise the truth. Judging him based on the role hes been given by JM no player has worked harder than Dave this season..

Am I right in saying Oscar wasn't even in the squad for our trip to Anfield? Rested for tomorrow or not selected due to recent form? He did have a brilliant start to the season yet nothing seems to be working for him lately, I've really enjoyed the rare occasions when Willian has been deployed in the no 10 role!

Really looking forward to this one. I've got a special feeling we should deploy Frank in midfield today. Big game player, experienced and no doubt I can see him popping up in the right place at the right time in a game like this. Would prefer Ramires rather than Matic alongside him for the meantime. Good debut but still don't think Matic is even close to adapting to the pace of English football yet and to chance him in a big game like this would be a risk. Didn't like the look of Eto vs West Ham and Ba has looked very lively when subbed on. Really rate him as a professional. I think we can too easily forget how much of a key player he was at Newcastle and the feeling of relief we had when we purchased him. Despite being favoured by a somewhat washed up Eto he still works hard and is still smiling. Still don't believe he has been given a real chance and would like to see him start 4 or 5 games on the trot which is most probably unlikely . While the result is the most important thing I would like us to have a real go at them regardless. A good overall team performance displaying the progress we've made since JM's return with at least a pinch of flair and purpose going forward. Enjoy the game guys !

Bit confused. With all the wide players weve invested in were resorting to ramires right wing? Other than that really pleased with the selection. Torres earned himself a start today and mikel has been performing well when hes had the chance. I can see why hes gone for this line up its probably the most steel were gonna get at the moment. It should be a cracking game just hoping we dont sit back and actually try to take the game to them. (Within reason).

Luiz is an absolute legend. Plays with so much heart and fire in his belly how can anyone criticize his play. He was simply timewasting on the floor at the end just to sure up the win. He clearly wasnt trying to get the man sent off. I dont think enough people appreciate how much of a talent Luiz really is. He kept Rvp dead quiet today and should have even had a pen. Great performance by Dave by the way and was it me or is Torres generally starting to look promising on a more consistent level.

This is a real tough one. At first i thought we should bring in someone low key who could stay at the club long term and give us a more recognised style of play. Someone like Gus Poyet, however with this current team we have been lacking steel and power and theres no better man to sort that out than JM. I can see him coming straight in and making 2 or three powerhouse signings including a forward and an alonso type complete midfielder. Plus he would def bring JT back into the starting line up, influence an extension on Franks contract and iron out any David Luiz antics therefore moulding him into the best CB in the PL. For some reason I feel like his coaching style will bring out the best in Oscar and I cant see JM doing the 'play torres out of sympathy charity' if he doesnt perform. If JM comes in you can bet your life we will be serious PL contenders next season.

Solid performance today, other than JT being benched I was glad to see that starting 11. Hazard & Oscar seem to be in their zone right now, they need a good run of games. Yet again Ramires was everywhere today and there were times when we were playing some good 1 touch football whilst staying solid at the back for the most part. Ba is clearly the better option Benitez needs to give him a good 5 games on the go now. The players looked hungry for a result today and it showed. As for those Luiz haters he made the most clearances today and set up Bas goal. Other than his occasional awful long ball he always seems to bring the ball out from the back and find a positive direct pass that starts a news move, really undervalued player at Chelsea. Important couple of fixtures next week hopefully we can build on this victory. Even though its been stated hes staying till the end of this season I think its gonna be a make or break week for Benitez !

Wow for those of you saying we have enough attacking midfielders, you must be really underestimating this guy. Isco is a special talent and for 15 million we could be kicking ourselves 3 - 4 years down the line when this guy's worth triples and he starts tearing up European football.

I cant understand this whole saga. The board should have thrown everything at Drogba to keep him at the bridge. From letting him go to sacking Robbie after a few bad games, bringin in FSW and now Lampard with the potential of Ashley Cole going. What kind of message is this sending to the players.Come and be useless for two seasons like Alice and we'll look after you but become a club legend and well show you the door.

No chance , Oscar, Mata, Moses probably even Luiz would do a better job supporting Ba. I wouldn't fancy the four four two anyway, I think the balance of having width and being able to play more direct in the shape we currently use would suit Demba much more. The only problem with this system before was the balance between attack and defence plus the lack of movement and poor finishing from our CF. Our midfield was a strikers dream yet our striker was a midfield's nightmare. Now the def is more sured up and we have a capable marksman who seems to know how to be in the right place at the right time and finish, let the fun begin. It was great to see the guy throwing his weight around and busting a gut to get on the end of some scraps or a Hazard pass to blast home. Everything we've been missing. To be honest I cant believe a club as big as Chelsea would go from having Drogba up front and winning the CL to thinking playing an insecure, needy girl up front on her own for half a season was a smart move.All we need now is a good manager and we'll be on our way.

Sure enough we look far more balanced between attack and defense, and our build up play seems to be quicker and more direct. At the same time I cant help but feel disappointed that Oscar is seeing less minutes on the field under Benitez. For me he should be a sure starter in every game. Intelligent, versatile player who can hustle off the ball and make things happen offensively, who boasts an 87 percent pass completion rate with us so far. Have we already forgotten his sublime European efforts, embarrassing the multi- talented Pirlo before firing a fine strike vs Juve, or his hard work to nullify Arteta and Carzola in helping us overcome Arsenal. I really thought he was starting to shine, now he plays the last 10 minutes of a game despite how much drive and hard work he displays once subbed on. Many would argue he was sacrificed to make our midfield more resilient as it was 'lightweight'. In my opinion Oscar offers more steel off the ball than Hazard, Mata and Moses combined. It seemed the Brazil no 10 was appreciated by RDM in every respect, do you feel he is being overlooked by Benitez, or is Rafa right to leave him out ?
