I'm starting to think Torres has a shamrock hidden up his ass.

He's managed to see off nearly every striker we've had at the club since he signed.

Can't believe we've loaned out Lukaku. We now have Torres, Ba and Eto'o to be going for the league with. Brilliant.

why are you using this as a defensive stance? opinions aren't some infallible gospel. yes, i think that a striker who scores lots of goals (top quality and important ones too) on a regular basis will get more credit for his goals than a striker who sparsely scores (never mind them being good, nor important). that's the reasoning for my opinion which seems rational to me, now what reasoning are you using for your opinion?

Sorry mate but I worded that post exactly how I saw it.

No you're not right, I would have been happy if Lukaku scored it but I'd have only been raving about it had he delivered some Drogbaesque hold up play and a couple of assists.

He had a good game, nothing more nothing less, very good for Torres I'll grant you but its what I expect of a striker at this level not something that sadly is an exception at the moment.

By far the best goal I've seen so far this season. A counter attack at its absolute best and a stunning finish by Torres.

Schurrle looks some player and has incredible work rate. Can't wait to see more of what he has to offer.

Hazard had his first 'great' game this season, at least by his standards. The thought of him potentially playing like that week in week out is truly frightening. He's at his best when he dribbles past players. He needs to do more of that.

In Jose I trust. Onwards and upwards.

Edit: Oh and Cech is clearly the best keeper in the world.

    No, he didn't.

Clearly, early goal helped his confidence tremendously and he worked tirelessly throughout.

Most of his performances for Chelsea don't come even close to how he played last night.

Dont take it the wrong way, but I really dont understand you at all.

You love sharing these fanciful transfer yarns that some sport pages would not dream of publishing, as if you were the agent involved in the deal. Then, when people ask you for evidence for any of these stories being true, you do one of three things:

    1. Provide links, like the ones above, as evidence, despite the fact that most media sources will now invent these links at the behest of players, managers, agents, and freely be manipulated by them. Stories are recycled all the time. The press in other countries like Spain will act as a mouthpiece for specific information a club wants out there. Yet this time, the Evening Standard must have been correct, eh?

    2. back off your position, albeit slowly. You did this in the case of Isco to Real Madrid, and when I was genuinely curious about your claims, you slowly made it clear that you had no actual evidence, but that you had reached your own conclusions about the situation, seemingly out of thin air.

Just reading the previous page, your claims are met with skepticism or derision, and you explain them away through a variety of tactics.

I highlighted this post because Stim replied to your claim that this was just a rumor. Yet, based on nothing, your response was "more than a rumor". No, Stim had it exactly right. It was just a rumor. A rumor that you liked the sound of, so you repeated it and removed all qualifiers, as if you were sitting at the table with Malaga and Chelsea brass.      Then there is something like...

That's funny, because unsubstantiated theories (which you present as factual) are pretty much all you post. It seems clear to me that if you want to push a rumor (and yourself as the oracle that is calling it) and you can find a link for it, that counts as "evidence". But then someone says something to counteract your claims, and you dismiss it

Honestly, my only question is, what do you gain out of doing all this? This is not to be a jerk, but you seem to be totally focused on transfers on this forum. You're met with skepticism by most people, and yet you soldier on when the vast majority of your claims are ultimately proven false (or, when challenged, are given up on). If this is about impressing people on an internet community, or standing out, it really is needless.

nope. i'm sticking with my original thought. he should be about 5 yards further forward to the top left of the screen and attacking the space to give moses an option, instead what he does is drift BACKWARDS and blocks of the path of hazard, effectively breaking down the whole move, as usual

Nobody knows what Torres will turn up? Do me a favour. The same Torres that hasn't shown up for the last two and a half years. Some of you are so deluded it's unbelievable.

His record in the Prem is atrocious and his performances have been even worse. Have you not been watching? Jose's been watching and you can bet, as soon as he knew the Chelsea job was his, he started watching every single game we played last season. Why do you think he's going for Rooney? Because he knows exactly which Torres will "turn up".

Torres has been given star billing, he's been given loads of creative players, he was given his old manager at Liverpool, he's been playing for a team far stronger than most of the opponents it faces in the Premier League. He's been given two and a half years. He's been given preferential treatment.

Lukaku wants to go to the WC, right? He wants to play, right? He made that clear. Jose told him to come back and he'll play because Jose knows a player when he sees one. So, if Lukaku is going to play but is too raw to be our front-line striker and Jose wants Rooney .. I think that tells you exactly what Jose thinks of Torres.

Torres just ain't good enough and that would have been made abundantly obvious to Jose after watching a few of our games. I promise you, if it had been any other player over these last few years, nobody, but nobody would be saying they don't know which player is going to turn up next season.

He's not a Jekyll and Hyde player .. He's not unpredictable .. He's not inconsistent .. We know exactly which player will be turning up .. There is only one Fernando Torres .. And he's not very good.

Did you watch our game up at Anfield last season? Torres inexplicably played, despite the fact Ba was bang in form, had produced in big games against big teams, and despite the fact Torres had just played midweek and Ba was rested. Did you see Torres' performance? Can you explain why he wasn't subbed? Did our manager think like you, wondering which Torres might suddenly appear in a few moments? The reason I bring it up is this ..

I'm not a massive fan of Sturridge but I said all along he was a million times better than Torres. Any idiot could see that. He has pace, he has skill, he drives into the box and he scores goals. He played 45 minutes at Anfield, the first and only time he has played against us, and he completely changed the game. He showed more in that 45 than Torres has ever shown us. Torres has never given us anything remotely like that and that's what you want, nay, that's what you need. Yes we all know Sturridge is flawed but Torres couldn't perform like that if his life depended on it.

Torres just hasn't got it. Full stop. Open your eyes everybody. He could only perform on Thursday nights. Why? Coincidence?

No doubt this will upset a few people but there you go, I just had to respond to the quote above. I find it incredible that anyone can still be in any doubt as to which Torres will "show up".

You'll only get the Torres of Thursday nights if he plays on Thursday nights. You won't get that Torres on Monday nights, Tuesday nights or Wednesday nights. He needs to go to a club with more modest aspirations.

Right .. I've got that off my chest .. I'll duck for cover now.

i agree with most of that. but there's a limit. you can't pick out any 2bob player and after a few quiet whispers have them play like a title challenging striker.
it amazes me how people can be so blasé about going into another fecking season with torres as the main man.
