Ale vs Chalobah

Featured Replies

Now we all know a lot about Ake and chalobah. Both of them are very promising young players currently on the clubs roster and we all think very highly of them. I personally feel very proud when Chalobah does something good for watford or when Ake makes an appearence for chelsea.

Its very hard to ignore the similarities between the players and wonder what implications it might have on both these players and the club in the future.

both are 18 years old

both are top talents in their respective countries

both have made appearances for their respective countries at the youth level

both play in a similar position, to the point that both can operate at midfielders and defenders.

both of them even have almost the same first names

Although Chalobah is a little bit ahead of Ake in the development ladder because of his brilliant season at Watford, lets not forget that Ake has won two European championships at the u-17 level, also captaining the side. And if given the chance to go out on loan (which i think he should) like Chalobah, he has every chance of performing just as good or even better.

Lets hope that both of them mature into top level footballers and can integrate themselves into the side without being a hindrance to each other. But that seems very unlikely to happen given the clubs policy to buy a lot every year and also due to the presence other players who have already established themselves in the positions that these two currently play in and are still young.

Given the constraints, if a situation arises that the club has to choose between one of these two fine young players who do you think it should be?

Well hopefully, however extremely unlikely, after the next summer transfer window or two the Chelsea board will feel that the mix of world class players and young emerging talent will have finally be achieved and we won't need to phase either of the players out.  By that point we will be getting most of our players from the academy hopefully, I mean Loftus-Cheek is on about 2 million pound wages.  That being said, purely out of how many senior games they have played at competitive levels I would have to say if Chelsea decided TODAY to keep one and sell the other I would want to keep Chalobah

I'd say the result of such an encounter would be a headache and an unsavory female companion in his bed the next morning.

No matter that it is quite crazy to pay the kid that much money but I think its a good sign that the board are invested into developing young talent

That's 10,000 pounds a week, plus bonuses and seems about regular for most hot prospects.
