Has anyone seen this series? It is so funny. It may not be to everyones taste but if you live near where its suppose to take place then it is very amusing.

My Mrs thinks its funny but not as much as i do, but she thinks Shameless is funny because she can relate the characters to the people where she grew up.

Exactly,

I lived in Sutton in my twenties and its changed a lot since then with all the pedestrian bits where the high street was but I don't live far from there now and the kids all talk exactly like the people on this program.

My Daughter and all her mates would fit in spot on in the show, I can't make out how a whole dialect can change over a few years.

Bits of it are funny though as you say.

I live in Sutton & i hate the programme, its crap, as for the way they talk that pisses me right off, anyone black or white who talks like that needs a slap. mongs.

Exactly what I tell my kids...doesn't seem to stop their mates talking like it though.

I cant stand it mate, as a country we've gave so much to the world including the English language & yet some youth

choose to talk like that.

Thankfully my kids or their mates have never spoke like that, i wouldnt tolerate it especially in my house.

It is weird, I don't hang about in Sutton although I've got a lot of mates in Wallington...my kids who's mates talk exactly like the Phoneshop characters live with their Mum in Addington...nuf said I suppose

I've watched the show a few times and i liked it. It's not hilarious but it does have it's moments. I think i'm more the target demographic though, early-mid twenties and from Wallington.

The show doesn't promote speaking in that way though, it's poking fun at it. Sort-of like Ali G but in a more subtle way.

It works for me because I know people who i went to school with would talk like that, without remotely being 'gangsters',

I suppose its a sort of youth movement like mods/rockers/punks & skins ect, i cant stand rap music or the hip hop gangster scene, maybe its my age but it baffles me why anyone would want to speak like that in real life, older black lads i know laugh at black youths who talk like it, they like me just cant get their head around it, it sounds even worse when white kids do it.

Sutton up to about 5 years or so ago never had any problems with gangs ect thats changed now with gangs coming in from all over South London & having a pop at other gangs, its sad & depressing for me.
