Non-league

FA Cup day at Champion Hill v. Worthing this afternoon, it'll be interesting to see how many turn up for this one as traditionally crowds drop for cup games which are not included in season tickets.

Last week's 2,856 was the given attendance, the true figure was actually 3,256 due to ground regulations, etc.

A bit of a come down after the Hampton highs, lost 3-0 at home to a team from a division lower in front of just under 500. Sixth highest Saturday attendance also bearing in mind two of the better crowds were local derbies and of course the well supported Maidstone Utd.

Back to this weekend, at home to last seasons promotion chasers AFC Hornchurch who are having a stinking season so far.

A nice article about the Hampton match.

Probably one of the worse games of football I've ever seen, thanks mainly to the ref. I only went at half time and nearly went home twenty minutes later. Still a 2-0 puts Dulwich Hamlet back up to third with a home game against fourth placed Wingate & Finchley tomorrow.

As there's no Premier League football this weekend and I'm not fussed about international football think I'll go and watch my local non-league team, Welling United. Home to Nuneaton. Welling had a crap start to the season but have picked up in the last two-three weeks.

I follow Chorley FC and watch their games sometimes.

3rd in the Conference North.

As in "Chorley Radio, coming in your ears!"

Brilliant

Dulwich Hamlet v Bognor Regis Town this weekend, another big crowd expected as students are admitted free. A pretty good idea as there's a new student accommodation complex recently opened just up the road.

Will be watching Wisbech Town for the first time this season, playing Yaxley who top the United Counties league.

Was at Welling United v Nuneaton. First-half was fairly even and it was 1-1 until just before half-time when the Nuneaton goalie was sent-off for a foul just outside the box. Welling scored from the free-kick. Second half was all Welling and they ended up winning 4-1.

Despite losing 3-2, Winchester pushed their opponents all the way, missing two close-range chances and having a header cleared off the line against a team three divisions higher.

possibly a realistic chance to get to the third round for one of these sides though. never know! that's where the real money is at. my local side Cheltenham Town got drawn with Swindon so tasty little derby!

Loxwood FC the local team that I am involved with are playing Ashford Town (Middlesex) in the 1st round proper of the FA Vase tomorrow, historic stuff for a club that was playing park football in West Sussex up until 2007.
