The King boardroom take over appears to have proceeded in a straight forward way today. I'm sure Rangers fans across the world will be hoping that this is the end of the shenanigns of recent years and that King will be able to get the club back on track.

Will this signal the return of full houses at Ibrox? Probably if the Board can get a new management team sorted out.

Any news please Carrickblue re. Mike Ashley's situation at Rangers? I think the SFA were investigating the size of his ownership stake. If King does well and Ashley is stopped from getting more shares things may go well.

I fear this is nothing more than a false dawn for Rangers. They have been taking over by a by with 40 off tax evasion evictions who seems to have bought his way out of a further 280 or so. He has very little money to invest and will face an early hurdle if Ashley decides he wants his £10m loan back.

I can understand Rangers' fans optimism because they see any change as good at the moment but I suspect King will not turn out to be the saving white knight and won't be in charge at Rangers for the long term.

As you say Spud, Ashley still owns almost 9% of the club and has contractual rights within existing deals on sportswear and other merchandise. I understand that despite the departure of Llambias and Leach from the Rangers board this week, Ashley still has a contractual right to appoint 2 board members.

I gues the only hope is that those striving for power can find a way of working together. An unsuccessful Rangers won't make anyone any money so something has to give.

Yes they do and he is currently being reviewed against the criteria.

Thanks for the info. I hope they can sort something out.

King sounds a concern based on Loz's post; I hope he's straighter now as Rangers need stability and a clear deck. Touch wood it works out as things are a bit farcical in the SPL without Rangers imo.

Always thought it would be good if the SPL could be used as a b-team league for the EPL. Liked what Ashley was doing with his loan players. Maybe teams could work out agreements with the other teams but there is an issue with quality.

Ha, you clearly need to spend a bit of time in Scotland to get a feel for how that idea would go down! It would also create problems for champions league qualification.

Funnily enough though there have been loan players from EPL to SPL in the past and more often than not they have been flops. Possibly due to lack of motivation to perform well.

Ok maybe the road to recovery began today. Rangers outplayed Hibs for most of the game and were deserved winners. If they can play with that drive and commitment to the end of the season they might, just might make it through the play offs

Yes, a good result against Hibs. Will do the team the world of good. Would be great to see the team promoted this season but then again it may be worth staying in the Championship for a couple of seasons so the young players can gel together as a team.

Monday, 23 March was the 20th anniversary of Davie Cooper's death. One of the finest players ever to play for Rangers and Scotland. Highly thought of by Ruud Gullit.

It's been a lonely sit in this Rangers thread for the last few weeks Boyne, I thought everyone else had given up!

Davie Cooper - what a talent, one of the very best

RANGERS 4 - 1 COWDENBEATH

Great reaction today after conceding an equaliser with only 15 minutes left.

McCall has the Gers better organised and producing a real goal threat

Amazing what a couple of wins can do - you can see the confidence returning to the side

Yes, another good win. As you say, Carrickblue, the confidence is returning to the side. Will do the them the power of good. Sets up for the game at home to Hearts on Sunday. Win that and will do even more for their confidence. McCall has done a great job.

Saw pictures from the game on Saturday and there were some lovely tributes to Davie Cooper. I remember when we played Rangers at Stamford Bridge in 1985 and Cooper couldn't play as he was injured.

RANGERS 2 - 1 HEART OF MIDLOTHIAN

Another win, another solid performance. First half the Gers looked really up for it and scored a couple of good quality goals. Second half was a different given they were down to ten men but they dug in and saw it through. There's growing belief around Ibrox that the season can end well, maybe this is just the time to strike a bit of form.

Is there any news please on the Mike Ashley issue? I haven't heard whether the SFA have made a ruling about his stake in Rangers. Hopefully the SFA can limit Ashley's involvement.

Saw some of the first-half. Two fine goals. Passing was good. McCall has done a good job in the short-time he has been there. Agree that the season can end well. Will watch the game against Queen of the South tomorrow night. Would be good if they can finish above Hibs.

Haven't heard anything about Mike Ashley. Will ask a few Rangers fans I know. However, Dave King has been cleared to stand as a director by the Court of Session. He still has to pass the fir and proper rules set-up by the SFA.

Order restored at Ibrox..... :blue scalf:

That's more like it. Needed it especially as Hibs won.
