I'm a bit surprised that nobody else thinks Traoré will break into the team by Aug 2017, he'll be just shy of 22 by then.

Ever since I saw him in pre season I was convinced he'd be a real player for us.

An interesting topic, but why set a target date of 2017 for the arrival of any new legend, especially when the crunch surely comes this summer whether we take the Premiership title or not. Also, why search for the new Messi when the old one’s still only 27, far from past it, and might even be available at the end of the current season? Fair enough, part of your post involves the promotion of home grown talent, but there is scope for more advancement, taken without undue risk, by simply [given the opportunity] backing the best form horse in the world for all he’s worth, whilst at the same time bringing youngsters in to supplement what will hopefully already be a title-winning team.

Of course, this radical overhaul could only be triggered if Messi becomes available and his price is not so astronomic as to make any deal impossible under FFP rules. Although that said, we might find some way to get around the problem anyway (by invoking Barca’s recent FFP record?) therefore the more likelier stumbling block looks to be uncertainty surrounding ‘Lionel’s Last Hurrah’ which would have to mean, at the very least, a La Liga and CL double to go with his incredible goals tally. 

 

Such a shame it’s never going to happen, but, if you’re gonna dream, you might as well do it properly!
