Combined La Liga/Premier League XI

Featured Replies

Guillem Balague made his which containted three Chelsea players incuding Ivanovic, Fabregas and Hazard.

Ivanovic being in there is a little bit dubious and possibly even Cesc whereas you feel Thibaut and JT could definetly be in line to be in it.

I would replace Ivanovic with Carvajal, Pique with JT, Gaya with Alba, and for balance probably Cesc for Matic/Busquets.

Sorry for not making it clearer, it's just opinion on the general best XI.

Haha my mistake mate, it's perfectly clear to be honest!

This is quite tricky though, there are about a dozen players worthy of the forward line, loads of great midfielders, a few world-class centre backs, and barely a full back to be found! To be honest I definitely don't watch a wide enough variety of La Liga teams to be able to judge this properly, there are four teams represented in this lineup out of forty, even with my indecision regarding Modric's partner:

--------------------------Courtois

Azpilicueta-------Godin------Terry--------Alba (I suppose)

-------------------Modric-------Rakitic/Kroos/Fabregas/Isco

---------Ronaldo-----------------------Hazard

-------------------------Messi

-------------------------------Suarez

Only Chelsea fans would suggest Courtois is better than De Gea at present.

De Gea has been incredible this season, there is currently no better keeper than him in England or Spain.

To be honest I still rate Cech as better than both of them, yet I didn't even think to put him in the team.

This is probably proof enough that Cech should leave at the end of the season, it is a horrendous waste of talent to have him sitting on the bench when he could play for any club in the world besides us and Bayern.

I think De Gea gets the chance to make a lot of saves because of that dodgy defence, but I'd take Courtois every day of the week despite a couple of errors in his first season in a new league.

I think De Gea does a lot of 'camera saves' but in terms of command of his box I've not seen many better than Courtois. But I respect your view, I just disagree.

Ivanovic for me has been the best right-back in Europe this season. He's played every minute, he's worked his bollocks off and got important goals, but he's not been faultless. Nice that he's getting the recognition I feel he deserves.

I'd also have Courtois in there over De Gea but I understand why others disagree. Fact is he's put in MOTM performances when Courtois doesn't really have to. His strength has been the less-flashy but equally important consistency, but he's made a couple of errors which most of us expected in his first season. Cech was making more last season though.

Overall it's nice to see our players getting the recognition they deserve.

Also agree with the choice of Ivanovic - wouldn't choose anyone else ahead of him at right back.

Definitely got my blue-tinted glasses but I'd have Azpilicueta in at left back, although admittedly I don't know many Spanish full backs outside of the Barcelona/Madrid - don't recall ever seeing Gaya before so I can't comment on that choice.

I wouldn't have Ivanovic, Matic or Fabregas near the team. I think Hazard should definitely be in it although the competition in his position is fierce, and Terry should be a candidate for centre back.

Good to see Pique is still holding on to his position as the worlds most overrated footballer since Paul Scholes.

I'm sorry but in regard to Paul Scholes, he's one of the key reasons into why Manchester United have been so successful since 1995-2012.

He was a key contingent in the midfield, he single handedly controlled games for us, had great vision, he scored great goals and hardly ever gave the ball away, one of the most accurate passers in the world. I'm probably not even doing him any justice by explaining what he meant for us but your statement is one of the most ludicrous I've ever seen.

With Pique, he's been excellent this season for Barcelona; in regards to his speed, intelligent marking and interceptions, ball playing ability. He's really carried a weak defence with a poor Dani Alves and an attack minded Jordi Alba who I actually believe is quite overrated defensively. Mathieu has also been decent but for me Pique has been holding this defence. Terry has also been great this season and has kept Chelsea solid and also chipped in with a few goals here and there, he's been consistent the whole season but I put Pique in my team because defensively I feel he has more to do in terms of ball-playing and starting the attack as well as defensive duties in a weaker defence but it could have been either way.

Wouldn't say Scholes is overrated per say but it does feel like he's gotten better every year since his retirement. Bit of nostalgia creeping in and changing people's views I reckon.
