Jose Mourinho's 300th Game in Charge

Featured Replies

I was just browsing manager history on Wikipedia today and noticed that tonight (Porto) is Jose's 299th game in charge and his 300Th is on Saturday against Leicester.

He is currently 5th in the all time games in charge list with Tommy Docherty just ahead on 303.

On a personal note this means Jose has been in charge for the longest period of time that I have been a Chelsea fan.

Of course all of the above is both his tenures put together.

I thought this was quite a big deal and deserved its own thread, but apologies if its already been mentioned elsewhere already

Congrats to Jose for reaching 300 games! Hopefully we witness a memorable performance for his 300th!

Here's to 300 more as Chippy said! :JC_doubleup:

I hope that he'll be our manager for many years to come.

A good performance on next Monday will be fantastic for his 300th.

Congratulations, Jose.

A win would also give Terry 300 Premier League wins.

Jose Mourinho admits he feels ‘embarrassed’ when Chelsea supporters sing his name during the club’s disastrous run of results.

Chelsea have lost eight times in the Barclays Premier League this season and are just two points off the drop zone after losing 1-0 to Bournemouth last Saturday at Stamford Bridge.

But the fans rallied behind Mourinho by repeatedly singing his name during the victory over Porto that took them into the knockout phase of the Champions League.

He said: ‘We like to play at Stamford Bridge, the fans are being unbelievable, I even feel a little bit unsure how to react when they sing my name and I feel a bit embarrassed because I do not know how to react.

‘When you are champion you wave and share the emotion, but I know for sure the Chelsea fans don’t need to be reminded of the memories, that is for sure.

‘They don’t need that special vitamin for the memories because if not they would not sing the Special One to me, or to treat the players the way they do. For sure we want to play at Stamford Bridge and that is not a problem for us.’

Mourinho, preparing for Monday’s clash at Leicester City at the King Power, claims Claudio Ranieri’s team can go on to win the Premier League.

He added: ‘First of all they deserve to be where they are. Let’s be honest, I told a couple of weeks ago they I didn’t think they can be champions but maybe I have to think twice before I say that because one thing to be top of the league in September with beautiful stats.

‘Another thing is to be there in December. If they resist and get result after result it is because they can win the title.

‘It would be something magnificent, to show the football world that sometimes these things can happen so why not? They are doing magnificently well.

‘We are where we are because we are doing bad. We have basically the same potential as last season, we have the same manager, the same players, so if we are where we are it is because we are under-performing.

‘Leicester are there because the manager and the players are doing magnificently well.’

Good comments. Hope it is kept this way.

I got my info from here..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chelsea_F.C._managers

If your link is correct and mine is wrong that is pretty funny  :laugh2:  and to be fair wikipedia is not always correct.

If he has managed 310 games then he is already ahead of The Doc in 4th place, but still someway of David Calderheads 966 games (if thats correct  :laugh2: ).

Yes I've calculated it myself and it adds up to 135 games so 310 games in total (185 in his first stint) when I add up all the games he's managed since the start of the 2013-2014 season (excluding pre-season and friendly games).

Wikipedia isn't a good source of information in this case.

LOL I miscalculated his total games earlier he's coached 321 games if you include the Leicester match on Monday!

Hopefully he'll be coaching many more despite the poor form we're experiencing.
