February 26, 20179 yr What I love the most is that when Swansea equalised I wasn't worried, i was annoyed for about two seconds then turned round and said to my freind "not a problem were get another", likewise against Stoke. I haven't felt that much confidence in the team or manager since Jose the first time.

I haven't felt that much confidence in the team or manager since Jose the first time. I was disappointed with the equaliser, but I always felt we would score again. We were dominating too much to not at least get another goal on the board. At least our confidence was justified in the end.

February 26, 20179 yr Despite being a close game for about 80 minutes, I thought this was one of our best performance this year. There's more quick passing, movement, and decisiveness in what we were doing, we didn't keep the ball just for the sake of it. It all came down to the inclusion of Cesc in the game. His late run into the box added another feature to our game, we just don't expect Kante/Matic to do that. I'm so glad we won, otherwise the critics would go ' had Matic played, we would have defended that free kick'. It's great to see Conte is going for results rather than play it safe, completely different to Jose's approach ( despite we won the league 2 seasons ago). Pedro, Hazard looked much better when there's a passer behind them.
February 27, 20179 yr As everyone said a closer game than it should have been considering how much better we were. Definitely harder to score goals when teams sit right back. A better outside shooter would help. It would create space.
February 27, 20179 yr Just as a point of reference and I know it is just personal opinion but: Straight after watching this match we slapped the DVD of our wonderful CL triumph onto the TV - the one that showcases the whole campaign. I have to say that as good as that team/squad was the movement in Saturday's game was far slicker and much faster. I'd wager that our current team would beat them. I'm not knocking the 2011/2012 lads as it was bursting at the seams with great players, and they did a fabulous job, but I reckon this current crew could (with a couple of key new players) be absolutely sensational in the CL next year.
March 4, 20179 yr The 2011/2012 team achieved something special in the end, but it's often forgotten we finished 6th in the league despite winning the Champions League and FA Cup. The 2011/2012 period was a transitional period of the squad as ageing players were coming toward the end of their careers and many were past their peaks. I agree with you on your summations of the current squad compared to the squad of 5 years ago. Edited March 4, 20179 yr by Jezz
March 6, 20179 yr I hate when Costa plays like this, he doesn't look for the simple pass and tries to run at people. The ball doesn't stick to his feet though so I don't get why he tries it in tight spaces.
