Thoughts of a scouser

BLUENUT

An eye opener if you've got a spare few minutes ....

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldow ... 8-1101.htm

''Since 2005 the Reds have gradually found parity with Chelsea, in one-off games at least''

''The Londoners will be happier to be facing a Liverpool side they can now try to paint as favourites, to reduce the expectations on their own shoulders.''

Throughout my football supporting life I always respected Liverpool, but over the pas few years, after our recent encounters I f**king hate 'em especially after seeing their petty, jealous, theiving supporters for what they are. Envious w**kers who think they have a god given right to be a 'top club'

We've GOTTA turn this mob over!!!

I hate Liverpool fans more than any other set of fans in the world.

They are utterley obnoxious and i want revenge.

Plain and simple.

After all only a Shirtburner could right something as self righteous as this -

The sheer drama of Istanbul will almost certainly never be topped by any team in any major final

Ok, this may be petty, but I think it's pretty weird that surprisingly many Liverpool fans can't even spell the name of one of their longest serving players in the current squad and the CAPTAIN before Stevie Me. I'm talking of Hyypi?. Ok, forget the umlauts, but what's with the Hyppia thing? They talk about their history, but they can't even correctly remember the name of their recent captain and a player that still is in the squad. icon_rolleyes.gif

Well written though this piece is, it does display signs of insecurity that you wouldn?t expect from a Scouser whose team has so much history. The use of ?that goal? as the hook line together with the standard, almost obligatory, references to our money, the tactical catching up Jose?s got to do and the rubbishing of Sheva?s ability all tell me that this guy still needs closure on a number of issues where we are concerned and he is none too certain that his team can deliver yet awhile.

Worries surface over having such a thing as underdog status this time around and appear to be based on it working well for the Reds last time The signs of anxiety also emerge when he?s called upon to praise the two teams - we are nothing (if not determined) so you would expect them to be something, but in fact they are only gradually finding parity with us and the jewel in their CV crown is ?a more serious look? about them. Steady now, let?s not get too carried away!

Of course, the problem for Liverpool this season, as with the previous two, is that they have quite clearly failed to get to grips with the bread and butter part of the game and any test over 38 matches is still too great a mountain for them to climb. Downgrade the League Cup as much as you like (and he did like), but I?d have thought Liverpool?s preference for one off affairs would have made this and the FA Cup ideal targets. Instead, Rafa and his tactical acumen failed in both this season, providing further evidence that they are fast using the Premier League and domestic Cup competitions merely as support acts for the CL campaign. Little wonder that the real ?across the board? title contenders, who are knackered after reaching a series of semi-final stages, feel justified in regarding themselves as underdogs when they come up against a freeloader.

some of that is fair, but some is ridiculous. To put yourself in as underdogs really confuses me. You are superior in the league, and the number of games played is not an excuse to be putting in this early surely. As your manager said very early this season, you started 10 games after everyone else because you were pimping your arses across the globe instead of preparing for the new season.

This game has to have you as favourites, the fact that we can rest players in between doesnt change that for me. We can win, but you are definately favourites. Without doubt. Just as you were in 2005.

The problem for us this year is that you lot might actually sing in the home leg of the semis, which might mean we might go into the second leg behind. If we do, i think you will win, if its even or we lead, we shall reach Athens, in my humble opinion.

As for the 'The sheer drama of Istanbul will almost certainly never be topped by any team in any major final', i personally think that is fair. I doubt I will see anything like that again in my lifetime, no matter how many times we win the cup again.

Okay, RedRobMol, my mistake - we are definitely favourites. Silly of me to think you?d concede the low ground. I suppose I?ll have to admit that the first leg will be all down to the singing too and, of course, the return leg at your place will be yet another evening of mind blowing sound from the Kop the like of which we will have never heard before - except in Istanbul, where the drama was?well, who can forget that drama - certainly not you.

If im honest i though united's against munich was more dramatic and they where actually a good team what with being abot to win or even finish in the top two of there own domestic league, do you remmber that?

I have to say take me back 17 years and if you told me liverpool had just won there last title i would have fallen over and rolled about in a fit of giggles!! but beggers bellief not one, not even really all that close to one!!

Lets be honest you go on about you illustriouse history (which im supprised you dont find a tad embaressing) but if we where to title the last 17 years it would really have to be LIVERPOOL 1991 - TIME UNDECIDED, THE AVERAGE YEARS

And dont give me the CL balls bottom line is you finished 5th in the prem that season behind everton and 30 plus points of the pace!!

Refering to history??? It's important to remember the good times a club have had at any level when you are going through a lean spell. Even if it's Barn Sports remembering winning the south east essex youth cup. But during the lean years at Chelsea - that being most of the years since our existance but I'm talking about the 80's and early 90's, even my dad got bored with the constant harping back to the Kings of the Kings Road days. Yes he loved it and most of his favourite players are from that time, but at some stage you have to start looking to the present and the future. Liverpool are lucky in that although they've been crap for a number of years they've still had some cup joy to celebrate, but even their fans (thick as they are!) must realise that the good times need to come again for them, it's a long time since they were a major threat (I mean on the pitch not to the shop/car owners of any area they visit). Regardless of what you've won in the past that's got to hurt?

to pick up on the general comments, we know that since last winning the league things have not been good. We also know why. Losing Kenny was the main reason, a phenominal man and a potentially great manager left for understandable reasons and the men we put in place after that were not up to the job.

The other major point for me is the fact that we failed to capitalise on the sky generation reinvention of english football. Souness made sure we were not at the forefront when this sh*t kicked off and we have been playing catch up ever since.

Of course it hurts not to challenge in the league and i generally thought that this year would be different, but too many of the men we brought in have either not stood up to the plate or needed more time to settle than we would have hoped. The signings were limited to what we could afford and I still beleive that Rafa will lead us to the title. He needs to stop showing sh*t teams too much respect away from home, that is, along with not winning enough of the big 4 head to heads, why we have failed to challenge.

I dont think there are even too many united fans who thought they would have the season they have had though, and we should have been right up your arse really by now, so i dont think we need too much next year. More clinicalnes in front of goal, a quality winger (either wing will do, but we need better quality than we have from out wide) and i think we will be there.

As for our cups to make the years less painful, that is fair, but look at the trophies we have won since we last won the league and it beats everyone apart from United and perhaps the arse. FA cup 92, 01, 06, CC Cup 95, 01, 03, Uefa Cup 01, CL 05. Thats 8 trophies, 5 of which are major trophies, its not bad in terms of consolation. We need the league (we being the fans) and the club knows that, but the bar has been raised without doubt.

ive probably addressed this in my last post, but look at the goals against column, thats what hurt us, and split that into home and away and it hurts even more, it was only 1 away goal by that stage. Our approach away from home has cost us the chance of competing this year, we are as good as anyone at home.
