Say roles were reversed…kelleher is the one who blazes it over the bar and it’s chelsea who get away with two red card challenges and a very dodgy offside decision…do you reckon the headlines/furore will be about Kellher or Chelsea robbery etc?

hey dude nicksplat GIF

Watched this on the net around at my brothers and his 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son sat down and watched it with me.

He's got the most ugly beard ever said my niece  referring to Lukaku.

Next up, he's so lanky and looks Turkish, referring to Havertz. I corrected saying he was German.

For the match talk bout being excited, so unexpected and we all thought Mount had scored that time he put it the wrong side of the post.

It was the first time I had seen them sit still for more than 10 minutes as they watched it through to the penalties.

Found this  a little more interesting and looks not all convinced by the Lukaku VAR...

Dang, I’m blocked from seeing it in the US.  Screw you, YouTube!

I occasionally get the same issue with different online material.

On my niece she only knew two players before the match, Mason Mount and Kante, as he drives a really cool little blue car.

A day to reflect. Listening to the media today, of course it was all about how good Liverpool were (TBH I wasn't that impressed and we looked the better side overall) and how TT made the error to bring Kepa on for the penalties.  However, this was a game of 'if's and but's' where both sides were guilty of missed chances and it would have been no surprise had the game ended 3-3; 'but' no doubt once the first goal had been scored, we would have not witnessed the spectacle we did as the game would have changed from an open game to one of defence against attack.  Once penalties were arrived at however it was a crap shoot anyway, regardless who was in goal and I doubt anyone would have thought we would have come down to the goalkeepers taking a penalty.  The entire team played well and we created some good chances, more so perhaps than we have in recent games, but as usual we didn't capitalize. My only gripe with TT was the fact that each team was apparently allowed 6 subs and he never took full advantage of that.  Throughout the game I felt our midfield was being overrun at times, despite the valiant effort of Kante and the superb Kovacic.  Kante IMO looked tired as we got towards the end of the 90 and certainly going into ET.  I thought that RLC should have come on for Kante and then Jorghino towards the end of ET if needed for the penalties, perhaps for the injured Chalobah and make some minor adjustments to see the game out.  I felt at times we missed the drive from midfield which RLC would have provided and perhaps even a sniff at goal, because certainly Kante / Kovacic / Jorghino rarely offer any threat from the midfield; something IMO we need to address in the summer, perhaps Gallagher will offer that if he is given the chance.  I'm still not enamoured with Pulisic, not because of his miss but he has a tendency to drift in and out of games; after the miss I felt he went missing for a while which he has done in many games this season.  Certainly Mount had 2 good chances with the first more difficult than the 2nd that hit the post..he should have buried that with the time he had; perhaps on another day they both would have gone it...but we certainly didn't lose the game because of him.

It's onwards and upwards Wed against Luton as I expect to see a much changed side especially with a difficult game at Burnley on the weekend.  Let's hope City and Liverpool together with Watford do us a favour, the top 4 is certainly going to get tighter.   KTHBFF

Last thing on kepa decision…can you imagine what would be said if tuchel hadn’t made the change and Liverpool won on pens? Same critical media will be saying he should have brought kepa on.

Indeed.

You have not considered what would have been said had we won the shoot out and Kepa the hero.

Would have been all about how TT robbed Mendy of his moment of glory after a 10 out of 10 display, or some such.

Win, lose or draw we always get it in the neck.

Normally stay away after a loss, but in this result 10-11 on penalties is pretty meaningless in many ways.

I thought we played ok, possibly not quite as good as them overall but good enough to have won the game on the night.

Mount missed what he should have scored, and we all know he is not a great goal scorer and that limits his potential. He gets some but not enough for where he plays. That said he was just back from injury and he gets some slack for that.

What worries me is that Kante looked pretty done in after his penalty more than just tired. Hope he pulled up ok.

OK, I have a serious question, with two different scenarios.  In a first scenario, Kepa takes the Penalty, And Kelleher leaves a bit too soon. Kepa skies his shot over the bar.  Is Kepa allowed a retake?  In a second scenario, it is just like the first scenario, except that Kelleher leaves way early, interfering with kepa’s mindset, who then skies it over the bar.  Does the fact that Kelleher leaves super early change anything regarding whether a retake of the kick is appropriate?
