August 14, 20232 yr Just watched Eupen - Brugge. It was Slolina's debut. . They Lost 0-5. (7 shots on target from Brugge) - 1 Good safe Now Brugge is a good team in Belgium and Eupen is far from it. So the score line isn't the biggest surprise. I don't understand why Chelsea let him go to Eupen. They fight every year against relegation and are this year the biggest candidate. He will be in a Shooting Booth every week. Not sure if this is the best choice for his development / moral unless the focus is to see how he bounces back after many set backs. 1st goal penalty. 2nd goal deviation. 3rd goal cross he went under and didn't look too good. 4th goal shot from outside of the box. 5th goal got beat at the short post from close range
August 14, 20232 yr Not against loaning a keeper to a struggling/facing relegation side. I don't know how Chicago fared in the MLS, but so far in his life he's probably had mostly "good" experiences, coming through the youth system for his side and signing a major deal with us. Just hoping Eupen's got a decent GK trainer. Now he's thrown in a totally different country/culture/language, having to command a poor backline, will face a ton of shots and will need to outgrow those players both on the field and off it. If he can endure that, he'll be ready for a proper PL/Championship experience where the stakes are very high, even for relegation threatened sides as the money income is huge.

Yes his team might not do well but I think its smart to see how individually good his performances are which will be backed by his save percentage

A keeper shouldn't be beaten at his near post being a prime candidate for a stereotypical and rubbish comment.

But this bad of a team... not full sure. As often the moraal of the squad starts to suffer under it and then also team performances. But you probably are right. Else Chelsea wouldn't do it. Just can't imagine this being fun fighting against relegation being constantly a moving target.

Its not Bear Grylls, assessing his mental strength, its about development and building confidence and competency. Pointless move for a lad that looked a little shaky in pre season and could have done with a better team.

If so, I was just sharing how the goals happened for those that are interested. Not stating he should have save any of them. That specific goal was unlucky as the attacker made the ball bounce while sliding in at the near post. So not a straight forward save. Apart from the 3rd goal where he might have miscalculated, it was not the Goalkeeper to blame.

Its just a regular comment trawled out on MOTD and other programmes by pundits who have never kept goal in their lives. If Haaland is through on goal with options available and leathers an 60 mph ball from six yards there is just as much chance in scoring at the near post than at the far.
