April 17, 20233 yr Interesting read in todays Guardian. Personally I’d rather have dirty Russian dosh hauling in trophies than clean crisp legit greenbacks funding a disaster https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/apr/17/roman-abramovich-chelsea-world-beaters
April 17, 20233 yr Personally, my issue is less about whether Roman's money was dirty but more about where and how the line is drawn. The UK government is happy to have Gulf states invest money into football because they are political allies and turn the blind eye to their own dirt. So are we only making owners fit if they are our allies?
April 18, 20233 yr I read somewhere the UK government still withholding the money generated from the Sale, and not giving to Ukraine as promised. They were more than happy to see CFC die and send hundreds of locals to the unemployment just to make a point. Happily take Middle eastern oil money despite what everyone could see what's going on there. I mean Roman is not a saint ( would have never survived and been successful if he was), but IMO there are no good guys in this game.

Roman held accounts in BVI Russians were given " Golden visas for £2 million and further spending in the UK . UK turned a blind eye to the source of that wealth for decades, only the war forced a change, but as tax havens were set up to operate in secrecy we don't really know the truth . Pure hypocrisy
May 3, 20233 yr Still millions and millions in property owned anonymously here... other European countries for that matter... Politicians don't like to make laws that will harm their backers,
