BBC Sport understands that Thomas Tuchel's defensive tactics in the World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina are being hotly debated by the England squad.I don't remember seeing him on the touchline screaming at the players to get forward. He gave up any attacking impetus and threat we had with his substitutions until we went behind. Then he decided to go all Wimblebomb slinging balls into Toney and Burn up front. If Southgate had done it he would rightly have been distroyed again.
On Tuchel 100% totally.

Tuchel made a point of ciriticising Southgate when he got the job, saying how he knows what were missing and how to get us playing to win. He then did everything Southgate used to do multiplied by 10, I would love to see Southgate come out and just say "Hey Tuchel, f**k you"....

I've always thought we have spent every World Cup since 1966 blaming managers for not even reaching a final, when in fact sometimes we simply weren't good enough or that during those 60 years other national teams were superb ( Brazil, Germany, etc etc) . BUT this defeat is all down to Tuchel, Argentina weren't a threat, Messi looked lost, then TT makes changes, we are camped around our box, no out ball possible, we were under siege, it was just a matter of time wasn't it ?.

He did what Southgate was panned for doing.
Man for man we are better than Argentina… the occasion got to us and we slowly shrunk as we tired and retreated when we should have been playing possession football. If the prem players this season have learnt anything it’s how to have hours of pointless possession but when you actually need to keep it it gets hoofed up field to no one.

That idiot's comment about Reece's injury ( no one saw that coming ") is nonsense. Tuchel was Chelsea manager when Reece suffered hamstring injuries, everyone could see it coming.

For me, the missing part of the jigsaw for England, in every tournament, is that we always seem to end up with 11 guys on the pitch who look as they're playing together for the first time.
When Argentina changed it up and brought on 3 or 4 subs after they went behind... it was like they'd been playing together all their lives.
That aside, TT let them off the hook... should have changed Kane and Rogers, brought on fresh legs and kept pressing and we might have done it.

It's interesting how every World Cup winning manager is a home grown.
A foreign manager has never won a World Cup before. There's something in that I suspect.

Dont know how anyone can claim he made the right decisions with the squad, thats partially the reason weve struggled in the last 2 games.
Quansah instead of TAA, Hall or Shaw
Madueke instead of Foden 
Henderson instead of Gibbs White or Wharton (the worst one of all)
Toney instead of anyone else
Last night as we were losing control he had nothing to do to change it, he sat and watched it all happen with zero input into stopping it other than to get our team to drop deeper and deeper, and become more compact.
Having someone like Gibbs White to run with the ball, Foden to take control and either make space or draw a foul, Hall on for an exhausted Spence, someone other than Toney to give us a target. He f**ked the squad up massively, highlighted perfectly by the balls up at right back, took 2 injury prone ones who then got injured (surprisingly to him), then replaced them with a CB who never got a single minute of game time.

Think you nailed it with the negativity in his coaching. I recall far too many times at Chelsea we started with 7-8 defensive minded players. He didn’t start this way, but the more time he spent with us the more he seemed to retract.
Some bad tactical decisions and the wrong personnel to call upon. It wasn’t if they scored, but when.

Yeah you can now be stressed watching Chelsea instead.

I think from the start there was just some baffling squad decisions.
Not taking one of Gibbs-White or Wharton but Jordan Henderson goes.
Not taking a Cole Palmer, Rio Ngumoha or Phil Foden, regardless of form when you know Saka isn’t fit and Madueke is starting games.
Then when Tino drops out, calling Trev up instead of giving Trent the nod. We know he’s a defensive liability but when you’re making the whole squad identity around set pieces having someone who excels in that area would’ve been ideal.
It just seems to be a squad picked with an extremely negative outlook.
Don’t have to deal with this International bo**ocks for another 2 years now thankfully. It’s far too stressful. Proper chance missed.

I actually think TT sinks us, Kane said after seeing 3 defenders come on we were playing for the 1-0, or no-one told him the captain!
Personally I think we should have changed the front players and if flagging bring up the defenders to half-line to condense the pitch.
Instead it became like Custer's last stand.

Bringing Henderson, Dan Burn and Ivan Toney (and not trusting any of them anyway - huh Mainoo?). Dead spots for a mix of pace and creativity : Foden, Palmer, Bowen, Gibbs White, Hall, Trent.. all sat at home.
We all knew a cowardly bus parking performance was on the cards. But why did it have to be? Why not just keep doing what you're doing with fresh legs??

Depends on how stubborn Arteta is. If he manages their minutes at the start of the season and rotates a lot from August mid October/early November, I think they will be fine. But at the same time they risk of having a slow start and not only Rice and Saliba look dead, but others need a good rest, too and won't be a part for most of the pre-season.
But for me the biggest worry for Arsenal this coming season it is going to be the PGMOL. I truly believe we will not see most of their shenanigans turn into goals again. This is were Arsenal will be hit the most.

Pretty much the way I feel - if TT doesn't walk, I think they should fire him. No coming back from a cock up like that - especially when one of the main reason for appointing him was to avoid that sort of low level negative approach.
Should have kept the attack going after they got the goal and given Saka, Rashford/Toney etc. a chance if it wasn't happening ... instead they tried to park the bus in front of Messi, ffs... all that did was give him a chance to get into the game - dumber and dumber.

The other really dumb thing he did was take off Gordon - who was our "out" because he didn't have the balls to take off Kane who, and I quote "recorded zero touches in the opposition's penalty box during the whole 90'" - what else can you say?

In hindsight, going so ultra defence was a mistake, yes. It was clear that even with 11 behind the ball, Argentina were finding spaces and chances, so swithcing to an extra defender wasn't really going to help with that. The alternative is we push more players up and try to counter and stop them having so much of the ball. Which on paper sounds fine, but in reality, we would have just lost anyway, because they were out running and out fighting us all over the pitch, and were simply man for man, the better team.
Still don't own the falklands, though.

Been like it for a while. As the games have got harder Kane has done less and less. We made such play about our wingers yet its only Gordon that has plated well. Rogers was really poor today and Bellingham looked like it was just one game too far for him.

We will never win any match like this. Never. We do not have the mentality for it. We will mix it up and go toe to toe with them. But that is from indignation and giving as good as they get. But the Argentinians love this.this is their mentality, they want this type of game and they enjoy it when everyone plays to their level. They are great at it and we never learn.
