May 11, 20233 yr We have set Jorge Mendes on Sporting Lisbon apparently. Ugarte is the chosen CDM Pochettino and the club have been discussing in their various interviews and there is some confidence a deal will be done. @JM7heard about this on YouTube here: You heard anything about this mate?
May 11, 20233 yr Hope so. Rash player but he has that sh*tehousery we desperately need. Good on the ball and a great defensive qualities. Enzo + Ugarte could be some midfield.
May 17, 20233 yr looks like the perfect partner for Enzo, they complement each other very well, Must buy imo.
May 17, 20233 yr Looks a good player but between him and Enzo i'm not sure if they're both a bit gung ho. We'd lose a lot of transitions when they jump into tackles and be caught out unless one of them can change their role to be more disciplined and stay back when needed. Ugarte looks like a Kante regen how he plays and even he needed an anchor next to him to get his best performances.

Thats the whole point of getting Ugarte, he will play as the deeper one and thats his preferred role as well. This will let Enzo go more forward in the 8 role and he wont have to worry about defending as much which isnt one of his strengths

He likes to break play up high and carry the ball once recovered and jumps into tackles instead of covering angles. On paper it looks a good signing but not sure if he's the perfect partner to Enzo many think, actually looks very similar to him defensively.

I think this issue will be present regardless of who we get. The only thing that can mitigate that is having a CM that is disciplined in their positioning. Ugarte's defensive positioning is pretty good which reflects his ball recovery and interception metrics. His Ramires esq rash tackles are my biggest concern.

If you see this graphic as well, it shows how they compliment each other very nicely

Just spit balling names as both have their disadvantages (price or experience) but would suit Enzo more. Paulinha at Fulham looks tailormade for the role but not sure how much he'd cost. Enzo and Ugarte seem very gung ho.

Someone else higher up on there list is available or agent fees are higher than they are willing to pay. Often agents and former clubs own a piece of top players that play in Portugal.
May 23, 20233 yr Liverpool don't need a DM as they have Fabinho and that young lad who impressed this year. They will likely spend the bulk of their budget on two CMs and a CB.
May 25, 20233 yr Seems like hes off to PSG, that came out of nowhere! Edited May 25, 20233 yr by Big Nigel

However in this case I will also accept Gus Poyet stating it, if he does so. 15 minutes ago, WhiteWall said: Just waiting on Barcelona's 10th lever
