He was presented with €2m annual salary, through a long term deal, in order to soften the investment, spreading it over several years and reducing the impact of spending on UEFA fair play. (@Record_Portugal) Ugarte saw Chelsea as almost a done deal but is now reticent over his future after seeing the disparity in wages. (@Record_Portugal) #CFC with a new round of negotiations set to take place between clubs and player. PSG also offered sporting to pay in 2 installments of 30 million, whilst Chelsea offered it over 5 installments. Hahaha. Here we go again. Another three montsh of this bollox incoming now.
May 31, 20233 yr Todd and Eghbali likes to make high risk decisions in every possible department, it's clear now. It's their MO. Whether it's changing the entire staff of a successful club, playing hardball with it's most loved player (Mount), buying kids with (only) potential from all over the world etc. This is no different. Let's offer this kid who really wants to play for us a really low salary and see what he does. It's like they get off on it. On the other hand if Mudryk is coming for 70M and earning 100k, maybe it makes for Ugarte coming in for 45M and earning something like 70k. If they can fix the mess that is our salary ladder hats off to them.
May 31, 20233 yr Author I wonder if such salary offers is how we supposedly offered Declan Rices family?
June 1, 20233 yr I find it hard to believe we are offering him only 40k per week for supposedly a key figure in our midfield rebuild. Low balling is all well and good, agents though know what their client can expect to earn. I firmly believe most players are paid far too much but the cat is out of the bag now and an individual morale stand by the club will be fruitless. Ultimately if you offer wages that Palace and Bournemouth pay to a player, you end up at that level.

That is net though, so gross its probably like anywhere between £70-90kpw, which puts him in the same bracket as players we've purchased in January when you consider there is no European football. It probably shoots up to £120-150kpw when we qualify.
June 2, 20233 yr Author So the latest on him, as per a few different sources like Record Portual: 1. Ugarte wants to play in the PL and will accept less wages than PSG have offered to join us. 2. He won't however accept significantly less, and qe have upped our offer from 2mill net a year to 3.5mill. PSGs offer is 5mill Net. 3. Talks going well with Sporting. They are happy with either offer just need fine details done.
June 3, 20233 yr It’s 43% more. If we all looked for a new job and one employer offered 43% more than another for the same work, well that’s pretty compelling.
June 3, 20233 yr Author Looks like Ugartes came is waiting for our offer to go up more. If he wanted PSG with the offer they made you would think he would just say yes and see you later Chelsea.

June 3, 20233 yr Fair play to the club if they’ve managed to persuade him with PSG in competition. Pochettino also wanted him so it’s a major boost for him.
June 3, 20233 yr “Chelsea, advancing on Manuel Ugarte deal and very confident — negotiation not closed or completed yet. There are still things, details left to get it sealed 🚨🔵 #CFC Chelsea cautious on Ugarte deal until they arrive to documents stage after Enzo saga with Benfica in January.”
June 3, 20233 yr It’s happening! 48 hours! he’s never scored a goal for sporting (although he is a defensive mid). He’ll fit right in!

He clearly wants to come here and Pochettino clearly wants him.
June 3, 20233 yr More on Manuel Ugarte deal. Chelsea hope to fix final details, get contracts done next week. 🚨🔵⏳ #CFC Club very confident, waiting on final steps but careful until the end.
June 3, 20233 yr Chelsea beats the termination clause of €60m + €5m through objectives. After 2 intense weeks, with many meetings between, his representatives Jorge Mendes and Jorge Chijane, Manuel Ugarte opted for Chelsea despite them not being in Europe (via @Record_Portugal)
June 3, 20233 yr Manuel Ugarte will have a contract for 5 years if everything is completed. (@RodrigoRomano76) #CFC 🔵🇺🇾

June 3, 20233 yr I'm a bit worried, he is a bit slow and commits millions of fouls.. we don't need another clumsy holding midfielder. Tell me I'm wrong please. 🙂
