As @FabrizioRomano reported, there is optimism a deal can be completed. #CFC still in the race for Moises Caicedo. Should Ugarte arrive that won’t change. Caicedo is not short of interest. #AFC remains a possibility as well. Player currently open to offers rather than fixed on one club. One other small point on Ugarte. Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart very much driving this one in a move that significantly pre-dates Mauricio Pochettino. Pochettino will obviously work very closely with the recruitment team, but Ugarte isn't a 'new' Chelsea target.🔵 So much for being Pochettino number 1 target then eh?

June 4, 20233 yr Ben Jacobs answered that: his response was “Just that it’s a long-standing-recruitment plan, and if they get him it will be the culmination of that not just a new manager and his wish list.”
June 4, 20233 yr Is this lad coming or what. Just seen a post on twitter, i know not the most reliable source, that hes chosen PSG🤷♂️
June 4, 20233 yr No. We've pulled out of the deal according to multiple sources. I suspect he'd rather go to PSG. And who can blame him.
June 4, 20233 yr I'd never heard of him until a few weeks ago so I don't know if I should be gutted or not
June 4, 20233 yr Same here, only heard of him a couple of weeks ago and never seen him play. Can't say he's trash, nor a future superstar. All I know is my first choice is Caicedo and the fact we've pulled out of Ugarte deal/he's rejected us, opens the door for that.
June 4, 20233 yr Well, guess I don't have to bother looking up who he is then. Edited June 4, 20233 yr by Fatty_Speeding
June 4, 20233 yr Since I knew very little about this player, can't be that excited if we sign him, and not feeling we lost anything if he's not coming. I did read we are paying above his release clause, I imagine it's not just $1 more but quite substantial. I thought once release clause is met, it's already out of the hands of the selling club.
June 4, 20233 yr Smart move by the club to pull out having forced PSG to pay over the odds for an overhyped player they’ll likely sell in a year. We did the same with Raphinha, Tchouameni and Kounde last year. Now we can focus on Caicedo. Our Board know what they’re doing. I hope.
June 4, 20233 yr I cant feel too dissappointed about this. Caicedo is a far better if more expensive option.

Mind you even a year ago Benzema would be getting the biggest offer from PSG, now Saudi have taken that place. On the plus side Younnes next video should be quite funny given how boastful his last one was about us getting Ugarte! 🤣

When Portimonense turns down an offer for the club to buy a stake, you think Sporting will accept it let alone as part of a packaged deal for a player? And force that player to join us over PSG who offer better terms? Madness. All distraction so the world doesn't see they are offering Ugarte a €10m a year net salary.

We are looking for a Portuguese club but I really doubt we even attempted to go for Sporting, Benfica or Porto. Just like I don't expect we spoke to Lyon about buying them when we went for Gusto. Another black eye for Winstanley and Stewart by the looks of things. Will they go running to the Eggman to save the deal like they did with Enzo? If Pochettino was counting on Ugarte he likely won't be impressed at this.

Think attention will be turned to Lavia, and rightly so. He'd be on over 300kpw. We move on.

I heard their previous offer, 5mill Net, worked out to 83k a week after taxes had been taken off. Don't blame him for picking PSG given the 6.5mill difference in wages. Any of us would do the same if given the chance of near 3 times the pay in our respective fields. Edited June 5, 20233 yr by axman2526

He should hope PSG's recruitment model changes significantly and actually start building a team vs cherry picking the best players on the planet.

All he needs is for them to catch Lightening in a bottle once while he is there, and for that same season for City to have an off one, and it may just happened. And multiple league and cup medals in France that no longer mean anything for PSG players too.
June 5, 20232 yr Wonder if PSG actually want him or are doing this out of spite because of Ziyech. On a good note, I'm glad the new owners are learning not to overspend. Last summer we would have tried to match PSG in wages.
