Hi all, 

my name is Alex Bennett - an illustrator that is currently a couple of months into working on 'Chelsea Mishmash - The History of the Blues in One Image'.

Please send me your ideas and suggestions on things that I need to add in. I'm looking for famous goals, celebrations, flags and banners, amusing moments etc... Basically anything that will help tell the story of Chelsea and their 120 year history.

Is there a zoomable version available anywhere, as I find it quite hard to see all the detail, to know what might be missing to suggest to add !

Have you tried turning it on and off again clicking on it? Can't do on mobile unfortunately

Yes I did, but it only makes it slightly bigger, and still difficult to make out all the detail. I usually view Shed End via laptop and 24" monitor, so tried on that ; also tried on phone 🙂

I can see a Ray Wilkins RIP banner, and Ray alongside Carlo holding the FA Cup, but I can't see him represented as an actual player anywhere ? As Chelsea's youngest ever captain, I think he should be a player on the pitch. 

I couldn't find Petr Cech either ? Our best ever GK, and a very distinctive icon in his helmet.

Is Ken Bates on there somewhere ? If he isn't, I'd have him to the left of the goalposts, peering through an electric fence 🙂

Lifting the europa league shouldn’t have that much prominence being so central to the image.

Lukaku on the right corner flag is a bizarre choice, first thing I noticed; given you’ve got 120 years to go on.. that shouldn’t be anywhere near it.

Looks great at first glance - will have a proper look later.

Is Pat Nevin and Joey Cole featured - if not they should be? 

And I'm assuming Cole Palmer is in there somewhere? Wouldn't have Jackson in it!!

 

LOL I see Sarri trying to sub off Kepa in the Cup Final. What a shocking display that was, only at Chelsea FC.

I didn't focus on the written notes round the edge initially ; some good info as to what the images are representing in there.

Cole Palmer is there. Pretty certain of no Joe Cole, but somehow Lukaku and Jackson made it. 

And no trophy lift of the 2nd Champions league title, yet he’s putting the Europa League front and centre. Can always tell when these are made by the non-Chels. Always try and minimise our achievements.

I agree it makes more sense to emphasise the more important trophy(s). I don't agree that he's got some anti-CFC agenda though. That's just fuelling a paranoid narrative. His market for sales of the finished poster is fans like all of us after all ... hence why he's asking us for feedback !

He does have Drogba with the 1st European Cup trophy on the pitch ; Drogba scoring the penalty in the shoot out.  Also the Dave banner with the 2nd EC as the V in "Dave", plenty of other European Champions nods too. So he hasn't ignored them at all in my book, but agree it would be good to emphasise even more. 

So to that end, I suggest to add Roberto Di Matteo as manager lifting the first European Cup trophy, and TT with the 2nd one, so perhaps move Azpi/Cahill/Europa along the stand and have the two European trophy lifts in the middle ?

Or even perhaps Mendy, who set all sorts of Champions League goalkeeping records that season ? 

 

 

The Europa image he's got in there is a good one to choose, as it gets two club legends into the montage as well.

I also doubt a conscious agenda to make Europa league front and centre and most prominent, and the small matter of being the only london club to win not 1 but 2 champions league titles scattered around the image, or, as for the 2021 win, basically omitted.

Please note I'm not omitting anything if you can't see it. As I say it is a work in progress, I just haven't done it yet!

Here's today's update. I've added the old Shed End as well as several trophy lifts.

Great effort and can't blow it up on this pc, nice to see the Shed, a shout out to the benches and the North Stand would be good and if I've missed it apologies.
