August 1, 2025Aug 1 Multi-clubs can play in the same competition so long as their controlling shareholders have an arm's length involvement, typically by moving their shares into a blind trust. They also have to do this by 1 March of the season prior. Palace are affected because Textor didn’t move his shares in time, which is somewhat understandable given no one could reasonably see Palace in Europe in February.

Our own Cucurella was subject to this back at Barcelona and I think Emerson Royal transfer to Spurs was same thing. It does feel like for every good thing our board does there's always an amateur hour thing that follows.
September 2, 2025Sep 2 A more recent example probably being that Tyler Dibbling we signed from Southampton in July only for him to go back to Southampton a month later. He was homesick I believe, could be the same issue with Ishe.

It's a huge reach to think he gave up his 200k or Strasbourg are paying his wages fully.2) Sending Samuels-Smith there in the first place wasn't a great decision as he wouldn't have played much anyway as they are pretty stacked at left back.3) If Chilwell to Strasbourg was the only option why send Ishe there to begin with. Should have skipped the middle man and just loaned him ourselves.

Some of the dealings between both parties are just strange.

September 2, 2025Sep 2 Author With club releases they either reached an agreement in settlement for the remainder of his contract, or as axman suggested Strasbourg outright bought him out of his contract, which was a little over £10m.
September 7, 2025Sep 7 Ishe Samuels-Smith had agreed a €7.5m + €0.5m add-ons move to RC Strasbourg, but the permanent transfer has been cancelled. He has rejoined Chelsea, who have immediately loaned him out to Swansea City. The departure of Ishé Samuels-Smith just over a month after arrival is described as a " mistake." "We understand that this might raise questions, but no one made a profit or a loss in this deal," a source close to the matter assured, following this double transfer.UEFA seriously need to step in and cancel his contract at his point. They also need to fine/ban us. They also need to ban transfers between connected clubs because we are obviously abusing it.Why was he out in Strasbourg for over a month? They have yanked an 18yrd old kid from England, sent him out to France with no plan in place or any regard for his career, and he has been used as a pawn and collateral in shifting a ridiculous contract over to Strasbourg. He has now been sent out to Wales where he will be competing with one of Swansea’s best players.

That hasn't been breached.Clubs in the same ownership group can transfer among themselves freely, but the transfers are subject to additional scrutiny for 'fair market value'.UEFA supports multi-club ownership and has courted it openly since Red Bull got involved. Now it relies financially on enticing American and Middle Eastern investors to follow that model. The ESL, on the other hand, intends to ban multi-club ownership. It is increasingly looking like a saner alternative to competitions run by FIFA and UEFA hegemony. Edited September 8, 2025Sep 8 by SydneyChelsea

Is there a time period between transfers where both clubs can change their mind? Or is this just a poorly worded way of saying that we paid them the same amount they paid us?In regards to the transfer of buying a player and selling in same window there's nothing wrong with it, other teams have done this most noticeably Barcelona. Transfer window is just the period that new players can be registered to a club, so if the paperwork is never lodged and the player is formally registered, there is no issue with cancellation. It would be no different to a deadline day deal collapsing at the last minute.
