High Street Ken
Anyone recall Trevor Aylott scoring a cracker for us against Peter Shilton? I'm convinced it happened but could be false memory syndrome!
Lofty
I think your memory serves you well. Better than mine, that's for sure. From the Chelsea Old Boys site: It was also good to see Trevor Aylott play today in the center forward position and everyone must remember his first game for Chelsea when he scored against Nott’s Forrest with Peter Shilton in goal Referring to his debut goal, at the beginning of the 77-78 season. More here: Chelsea had been promoted above Forest the previous season but had not settled anywhere near as well to life in the first division and were facing a relegation struggle as the season moved into November. On a day when both keepers, the Peter's Bonetti and Shilton, performed with distinction it was Chelsea who grabbed the only goal of the game, a clinical finish from young prospect Trevor Aylott. It's a lot easier when you can remember seeing most of them play, makes you less of an anorak So maybe I'm only a semi-freak

Used to love reading those, but don't seem to have any now. Long live Fat Freddy, Freewheelin' Franklin, Phineas Freek, and Fat Freddy's Cat! Liam
My favourite Freak Brothers spread had Phineas take a fit of paranoia and when he looked at his brothers they appeared to be wearing cop uniforms. Phineas freaked out, barelled down the stairs, and onto the street whereupon a cop car pulled up and beat the crap out of him. Phineas staggered back upstairs, into the room, and said to his brothers "I'm not nearly as paranoid as I thought I was".

As for Aylott's goal, I remember it well - it was superb, and he looked as if he could be a really good player. As it turned out, I don't think I've ever heard a player get as much abuse from Chelsea fans as he did. And that was before we sold him!

andy
Dave Mitchell?? I remember the most magical piece of football from Dave Mitchell (Was he a youth team product ??) but anyway, literally a piece of magic Paul Daniels would have been proud of: Fairly sure we were playing Wimbledon but could be wrong. A cross came across and he had an open gapeing goal we were already celebrating and no word of a lie.. the ball passed through his forehead and out the other side. I had never seen anything like it. BlueBeard
Dave Mitchell (Was he a youth team product ??) We actually signed him from Feyenoord. This is no doubt one of the main reasons for the great friendship between the two sets of supporters - Feyenoord fans will always be eternally grateful to Chelsea for taking Mitchell off their hands
