Posted November 29, 200717 yr interesting comment at the foot of the short article. I wonder if it's .........no, it couldnt be, could it? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.j ... nko129.xml
November 30, 200717 yr I think we should sell Sheva after this season. Whatever the reason might be ... he has failed to break into the team and failed to make an impact when he has played. I dont know if we are going to get another striker to cover for Drogs in the Jan window - if we do then it will be interesting to see who we get and if the new striker will be ahead of Sheva and Pizzaro ... if we dont then im sure Sheva will get enough time and games to try his best - either way, I dont think he is going to fit in and I think it would be wise to sell him instead of wasting money on wages.
November 30, 200717 yr I'd be shocked if he isn't sold (or loaned out) at the end of the season. He may go back to Italy, but I have a feeling (having moved to England for non-footballing reasons) he may join West Ham.

November 30, 200717 yr For the sake of the club and him, cut him loose this summer. He hasn't been good for the club and the team has no been playing his style either, it's been a marriage made in hell.. He is too good a player to sit on the bench every weekend, for a player of his quality he should have a dignified end to his career. Give him back to Milan for a box of popcorn, as long as we don't have to pay his 135k week salary.
November 30, 200717 yr Can't believe he is unhappy. Especially as we are all so happy with how he has settled in and is performing
November 30, 200717 yr It still absolutely baffles me how we managed to get so well and truly done on this deal. I know it's not our money, and I know Roman can afford it and wanted Sheva, but 30 million, 30 MILLION for that, is just a complete joke of the highest order, and it still rankles with me. However much I actually like the guy and feel sorry for him, I feel sorry for us a hell of a lot more. Please can we stop the revolving door of strikers who we buy and then sell for a substantial loss a season or two later, and actually spend some decent time identifying a long term target who will actually work out (unlike Sheva, Kezman etc), and who wants to be here (unlike Hernan, sadly). Thanks.
November 30, 200717 yr I think time is well and truly up for Sheva (no sh*t Sherlock I hear a lot of you cry). I have been prepared to be more patient with Sheva than probably most (bar a few) however even I now have to accept that it never has, and is never going to, work out. I do think a few things went against him from the start. 1. Arriving semi injured after the World Cup 2. The pressure piled on him by people calling him Roman's pet 3. The various false accusations in newspapers about him being a 'spy' 4. The fact that we never ever looked to play to his strengths (Crespo had the same problem) 5. The fact that he never really got an extended run in the team to try and play his way into form however having said all that the bottom line is he has never really looked a quality striker for us and when all is said and done that is the minimum standard he has to reach. If we don't sign anyone in January then the period Drogba is away wil be Sheva's last chance saloon however if we are still very much in the title race by the end of December I don't expect Grant to be prepared to take the risk of replying on Sheva to deliver.
November 30, 200717 yr He is too good a player to sit on the bench every weekend There has been no evidence of this is a Chelsea shirt. He'd struggle to get a place on Sunderlands bench on current form! Thanks for the goal at the lane, but see you later. Let's get Sinclair back!!

Even I am starting to doubt he will do it here and yet I still believe the man has something to offer, I thought he was OK last season though so maybe I dont expect as much as I should, I think when he was upfront with Drogba last season he did help with Drogs Goal tally, thing is he was not suited to the way we played under Jose and what has surprised me is although there are some differences in the way we play now, at the Sharp end it is still similar. when Sheva played against Derby he ran about with his arms up in the air but never got picked out, he ended up going back to the midfield looking for the ball, ok a bit over zealously when he came on against Rosenborg he ran about in the same way and again never got a pass. I think by the end of that game though everyone just wanted to get on the scoresheet so if Kalou or whoever had the ball they seemed to shoot. I can see Shevas lost some pace but still think with the right players in midfield or the right passes from midfield he could be ok. I think his confidence is shot and rebuilding it might just take more time on the pitch than we can give him.
November 30, 200717 yr Chippy. That last post is taking the "positive mental attitude conquers all" thing a bit too far!!!
November 30, 200717 yr Chippy. That last post is taking the "positive mental attitude conquers all" thing a bit too far!!! gotta be positive Just seriously I'm not saying he will ever be good for us, just dont think a player of his standard can be as bad as he looks. Its a shame as for years I watched Sheva and wished (never thinking it would ever happen) he could play for us, when it happened I was well happy, he had problems from the off and its a shame we may well have missed out on a great player, I do still think he could be a decent player but as I said the team would have to play to his strengths and if that happens and he is past it as people think, then we have likely got in trouble trying to coax him back, I still feel he could do a Job beside Drogba in a front two but that wont be the fix we need while Drogs is away. I dont think Pizza is going to be the man to get us through that tough time though.
November 30, 200717 yr In my heart I hope Sheva will come good for us, but my head says he won't. I do think his chance will come when Drogba goes off to the ACN, he'll get more playing time and he will have to step up and contribute some goals to the team. Whether he does so remains to be seen.
December 3, 200717 yr Sheva has had the service, he should have had a hatrick against Blackburn, and in 30+ chances against Rosenborg he managed 1 goal. Any forward can score goals with 'put it on my foot in the 6 yard box' service. Time to cut our losses if the chairman will left us sell 'his mate'
