Anyone else feel we're a complete joke?

Anyone else feeling like we are the worst joke in football at the moment?

It goes like this....

1. Dodgy billionaire buys club

2. Dodgy billionaire demands success

3. Dodgy billionaire appoints world's greatest manager

4. World's greatest manager wins back to back titles

5. Dodgy billionaire undermines world's greatest manager with strange appointments because he wants to feel more involved himself

6. World's greatest manager gets the hump and sods off

7. Dodgy billionaire appoints lump of lard 'with full his backing'.

8. Lump of lard has no qualifications for the job and has methods which are '25 years out of date'

9. Lump of lard actually does rather well in 8 months getting us to CL final etc etc

10. CL final is lost on a single penalty

11. Lump of lard is summarily fired

12. Approx 78 managers are 'in the frame' to replace lump of lard

13. Approx 156 new strikers are 'in the frame' to deliver sexier football

14. Meanwhile, dodgy billionaire buys world's greatest manager world's most expensive car.

15. World's greatest manager says i. 'Thanks', ii. 'I always knew that lump of lard was useless', iii 'I'm not coming back'

16. Kenyon the c**t smirks to himself....

I mean, people, who in their right mind who take the bloody job if they had any desire whatsover to:

a) Have a modicum of autonomy and control

B) Have any sort of dignity and self respect?

It's football as designed by 'Championship Manager'. I'm honestly thinking that Newcastle look like a more mature outfit than us at the moment, and I've NEVER thought that before.

Sigh......

Not really. It's been a bit of a roller-coaster season and to be honest it was a lot more exciting at the end than I expected. But if the alternative was fighting with Doncaster for the 3rd promotion spot to the Championship then I'd take this every time.

Oh for clucks sake.

About the only good thing in your entire post is where you referred to Kenyon as a smug c*nt - I like that bit.

That would be a 'no' then from you.

Just me is it then?

I guess what I'm trying to say (can't edit my post, argh!) is not to worry too much. Yes the actions of the club will raise some a few eyebrows, and yes maybe we are a bit of a joke to some people, but I'm certain we'll have the last laugh. happy0034.gif

I don't think we are a joke. Maybe we as Chelsea fans feel like that sometimes but think how boring it must be cheering for some other team in the world. Not as exciting that is for sure. We are trying to compare ourselves too much to other teams like ManU or Liverpool. We shouldn't. They have their history and we have ours. Period.

Jose's last season with us was really frustrating and boring at times. It is sometimes like that. But then he got kicked out and remainder of the season with Grant was really exciting with all the drama you could imagine. We ended up with zero silverware but we won ManU and Arsenal and Liverpool. We almost won CL. Good season IMO.

Aren't you excited to hear who our new coach will be or who will go and who will come Mike O? ManU will just have same old rednose and scum have their tubby.

I do see where you are coming from Mike, as in all honestly the club's actions (mainly off the pitch) have made me cringe with embarrassment more often than not in the last couple of years. Granted the press love to see us fail and so seize upon any opportunity to have a pop, but we sure as hell make it easy for them sometimes.

On the pitch, I remain proud with the effort and dedication of 99% of our players, but the off-pitch Chelsea soap opera HAS to stop. Let's leave the mud slinging and whinging to L*verpool's heirarchy and at least TRY and step quietly out of the limelight.

I know exactly how you feel mate, it just makes the 'sacking' of Jose even more ludicrous than it was at the time. They shouldn't have:

1, interfered with his signings

2, demanded more entertainment (althought I think this was a red-herring)

3, allowed him to leave without a replacement

The whole affair was handled terribley, right up until 'that' press conference when they unveiled Avram.

I feared a 'merry-go-round' style of club ala Newcastle when Jose went,

New manager appointed > rebuilding, enforcing new managers ideas > transfers in and out > player disharmoney > manager not up to expectation > manager sacked..........and the cycle restars itself......New manager > .....

It all starts and ends with the chairman.

The one thing this club needs at the moment is stability, and I don't think we're going to get it, I really hope I'm wrong. I fear the Real Madrid style of ownership or presidency has slowly been creeping into our boardroom since Romans arrival. We could be heading for a new manager each year regardless of what they achieve, just look at Capello at Madrid last years as an example.

Arneson, Pini Zavhi , the other Dutch fella Van P**** (forget his name) Kenyon. Too many cooks and all that..... Who actually goes after these players, and who agrees to sign them? This is one of the reasons JM got the boot, I still don't think Ballack and Sheva were on his wanted list either.

We need a manager who's allowed to manage, call the shots and run everything from a footballing perspective. If it means Roman can't pop into the training ground and join-in training sessions in his jeans then that has to be the case, but sadly I think we already know the next manager won't be given this type of freedom.

One the pitch I'm proud of what the players have come through and what they nearly acheived this season, off the pitch, I fell like we're a laughing stock and STILL paying over the odds for players transfers and wages.

What I don't understand is how Roman is able to call the shots directly when the funds have not been payments to CFC, but interest-free loans. In the unlikely scenario of Roman walking away, the club would be liable for Grant's £5,000,000 pay off!

I look forward to the day that Chelsea becomes a sustainable business and we can all say thankyou Roman, but we want our club back.

Using words like 'greatest manager in the world' and 'lump of lard' is ridiculous, the lump of lard got us to the CL final, when the best manager in the world didnt. 317.gif

Jose got us to 3 finals and won them all.

Avi got us to 2 and lost them both.

Lump of lard won nothing at all - even with Jose team and tactics and assistant manager

I'll open the batting for your side Mike and I know Bluebeard will come on board as a spinner.

Seriously, I've shared these thoughts for quite some time and BB and Iwere discussing this very subject over a jar not so long ago.

Jose had 3 seasons to spend £, time to build and the support of the fans.

Lump of lard had 8 months, no money, and no chance to chnage anything.

I'm not talking about our performances or the spirit of our players so much, mate. More about the way the club is actually being run.

In fact, bearing in mind that our performances of late have been really good, maybe they should be factored in.

Anyway, maybe the thread's title is a little too incendiary, but after four days of reading about how every man and his dog is up for the manager's job, and wading through countless posts on who we should buy for God knows how many squillions, I just feel 'it's all gone a bit Disney'.

Mike is right, the club is being run like a joke!

There's a big difference between the club being run like a joke and "we're a complete joke".

Far point. My point is that we are being run like a joke.

Since Roman arrived we have won nearly everything, to call us a joke at this time in our history is in itself a joke really.

The club has made some wrong decisions, but we still look as strong if not stronger than the supposed 'greatest' team on the planet as we speak.

No were not a joke.

maybe in the press, but the club itself is keeping schtum. all the rumours and rubbish has came from the press, not the club. so if anything is a joke, its the f**king media in this country.

it's too soon to tell- depends a lot on what happens next. for the moment, no, but we're by no means the model of how to run a football club.

but there have been and still are clubs that are run in a far worse way.

Coco, what do you think about the influence Pini Zavhi has at the club? How do you feel about us signing Veron / Mutu / Sheva and pissing around around 76 million up the swanny on these 3 players alone, and thats without their wages! I have doubts about who signed all of these players and I'm not sure they were necessarily signed by the managers at the time. Bad management or bad administration?

On the playing side we have alot to be proud of, off the pitch I think there is room for vast improvement.

I dont care what mistakes have been made, or who made them, every club makes mistakes, but were not a joke.

I'm sorry that you feel the need to call the club a joke at this present time, but i dont agree.

Its so easy to come out with these remarks now, 6 days later, but if JT scored THAT pen, are we having this discussion ?
