blueday3 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 England plays the u.s tomorrow at Wembley. Any thoughts? Predictions? I'm not sure what the scoreline will be, as Bradley has announced he has nothing to lose by attacking outright the entire game. I would predict domination by England but a score of only 1-0 with the US getting nothing on offense, but now I think it will be something more like 3-1 England with a late goal by the yanks.
g3.7 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I do. massively important that jt has a flawless game, and I hope for a rio error or two... I love that we've produced the england captain, and I genuinely think he's the best man for the job. would hate to see him lose it. in addition, it will be lamps' first game under cap, so hopeful of a quality performance from him too.
Alan Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I really hope JT has a good game and puts last week behind him. I obviously want him to be captain full-time, don't want to see either Rio 'You got Merked!! Papppppp' Ferdinand or Steven Gerrard wearing the armband full-time.
MannyJello Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 will probably be a pretty ugly game, because both squads have a lot of solid midfielders, and the US will hunker down in defense and try to win some counter attacks. the English have class upon class when it comes to individual players, especially when compared to the US, but with nothing to play for at the end of the season, i can't really see a spectacular performance by the three lions. i'm guessing England wins 2-0 in a fairly dull affair. for those of you who don't pay much attention to Americans, watch for holding midfielder Michael Bradley. he's like a poor man's Frank Lampard. he plays for Heerenveen in the Dutch league, and he scored 20 goals (17 in the league) as the central midfielder. even though he plays more of a defensive holding midfielder role for the Yanks, he's fun to watch. odds are he'll be playing in the Premiership before too long.
JT26CFC Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 also look out for jozy altidore is playing (real nice guy and great talent), but i hope Donovan gets shut out by JT. I'll be watching the game, but don't expect much, maybe a hat trick from JT and Lamps but that's all
blueday3 Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 Yeah, Jozy Altidore is going to be the best player from America soon. Cant stand Donovan, dunno if anyone here sees any MLS but did anyone see what he did a few weeks ago when he stood over the guy after scoring and shouted at him; or when he scored and celebrated in front of the opponents bench. Who is keeper for England for this game, James?
Gem Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Let's stuff the Yanks! Lampard, JT, J.Cole and A.Cole to score 50 yard belters!!
blueday3 Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 Either Defoe is having a poor game, or the person who writes the minute detail for sky dislikes him, I cant find the game on but it sounds like he should have scored twice by now.
Bluewolf Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Not a great game so far but a decent header by JT puts us 1-0 up....
blizeH Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Stopped watching as soon as Frank came off ;p Very nice goal from Terry, brilliant cross.
JT26CFC Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Decent game, great to see Terry score and really solid at the back. Also nice to see Rooney angry due to the fact, he can't score I dislike Donovan a lot, i remember at the la vs. ny match last year we were all celebrating (forgot who scored for NY) and Donovan runs down the middle and scores a goal. The boo's still ring loud in my ears today
bjd Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Rooney shouldve been sent off for two footed tackle on the stroke of half time , that was completly ignored by everyone at the bbc, they showed half a slow motion reply and then it wasnt mentioned again.

Also, Motson mentioned the fact that Rooney has been talked about as a potential England captain, and Lawrenson agreed with him. Making Rooney England captain would be like letting a serial killer babysit your children.

Alan Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Terry, A.Cole, J.Cole and Lampard won't play on Sunday, but Wayne Bridge is in the squad: England coach Fabio Capello has excused seven players involved in last week's Champions League final from Sunday's match in Trinidad and Tobago.Chelsea's John Terry, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Joe Cole, plus Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, Owen Hargreaves and Wes Brown are out. However, Rio Ferdinand and Chelsea full-back Wayne Bridge will travel. West Ham striker Dean Ashton and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart could be in line for full debuts. Capello has elected to rest those players - Ferdinand excepted - who featured in the Champions League final in Moscow for England's last fixture of the season. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/i...als/7425208.stm

Bridgeboy Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Just what JT needed, just goes to show what this guy is made of, JT captain forsure now.
Elliott Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 What's happened to Adu? I thought he was destined for greatness? I understand he's at Benfica now??..
Valerie Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Adu! I had totally forgotten about him! Good question: where is he? Another one with a great future behind him? I hope not...
Tim Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Given that JT's been rested for the T&T game, along with others, but Mr Merck is in the squad, it would seem Rio is now favourite for the captain's armband. What. A. Joke
