CL final 2009 v Inter......place a bet....... icon_lol.gif

Depends if they draw Liverpool!

Personally I am glad this has been announced as it was just a matter of time and at least we can move onto the random speculation about the number of our players who are about to join him. The sooner that happens the sooner deals can be done and the sooner we can plan properly for next season.

I agree, but now we need to find our manager!

Knowing who our manager is may change players thoughts whether they want to stay or go. At the moment without a manger or knowing who it will be, players may feel unsettled and more happy to join Jose at Inter.

You hit the nail on the head loz. Not only the current players but also the targets that we've drawn up for the summer may be snapped up by other clubs if we don't move and settle our manager issue as soon as possible.

I think the notion that we are going to have a mass exodus of players to Inter is absurd.

Of course, i have no doubt one might go and Jose might ask about some more but just how much would Cech, Essien, Lampard, Drogba etc/del as applicable cost Inter in fees and wages ? I doubt any would earn any more than they get with us so i think we have nothing to panic about.

Best of luck to him and im looking forward to his first press conference but thats the end of it. I wont be following Inter, Jose is a rival now. Juve vs Inter will be fun mind you. Bet Ranners will be right up for that one.

As Loz says the silly idea of Jose coming back has now been put to bed thankfully and we can now move onwards and hopefully upwards.

I think all roads are pointing to Big Phil at the moment G4.

I hate the idea of us having to wait till Euro 2008 is over though. Even more so the manager only having a month at the club before the season starts.

yeah- would be terrible to wait, particularly when there is potentially so much to do.

more and more I genuinely think of the people still about sven would be the best choice. has a lot of the right attributes for the job.

The sooner the better with the only note of caution being 'marry in haste, repent in leisure' (although there is little time allowed for leisure in football these days) - I'd rather we didn't get impatient and appoint the wrong man rather than bide our time for the man we want.

Having said all that the very best man for the job is currently unemployed and smoking a cigar that would excite an American intern. There are rumours circulating that if Donadoni doesn't deliver in Euro 2008 the Italians may turn back to Lippi for another turn as international manager. We should make our move now and tempt him with an offer so fat it beeps when it is moved backwards.

I think you are spot on, the money would be a problem for Inter, although Jose is a man as we know that likes familiarity with his staff and players, people he can trust etc. It wouldn't surpirse me that as he knows the players contracts, still in contact with certain players and agreed with Inter prior to signing that he could do certain things his way... remember how shrewd he can be.

But I am not worried about one or two players no matter who they are. If they dont want to play for Chelsea then thanks, goodbye and good luck.

he's ruled himself out, as has hiddink (apparently).

I think waiting till after the Euros to appoint Grant's successor is the worst possible thing to do.

We would have lost out on a month for sorting out the contracts, completing the transfers and pre-season preparations. At the moment, I think there are only 2-3 realistic options for the hot-seat : Hughes, Scolari and Mancini. All the others including Rijkaard, Hiddink, Lippi, Laudrup etc. have ruled themselves out.

If the move is not made real soon, the 2008-09 season will be affected in one way or the other surely. I definitely do not want Jose, to raid our stars (except Drogba) or players to start leaving due to the uncertainity of the affairs regarding the managerial vacancy at the club.

This particular article speaks out everything going through my mind at the moment : http://www.chelsea.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=506896
