The Portuguese central defender also revealed he would be discussing his Stamford Bridge future with chief executive Peter Kenyon after Euro 2008.

The 30-year-old is one of many players expected to be tempted to join Mourinho, and he admits a tough decision lies in wait for him at the end of the tournament.

"I have heard a few comments (about a move to Inter)," he said.

"It's a club matter and I am focused on playing for the national team so we will see after.

"But I would love to be coached by Mourinho again. The majority of the trophies I have won were won with Mourinho.

"At Chelsea, there is a new cycle happening so we will see what happens. I have a contract with Chelsea.

"But you never know - sometimes a challenge is good for a player. I will speak with Peter Kenyon after the tournament."

Cristiano Ronaldo, Carvalho's Portugal team-mate, has also been linked with a move away from Premier League, with Real Madrid admitting they would be interested in signing the Manchester United winger.

Carvalho believes only Ronaldo himself can decide whether his future lies away from Old Trafford.

"He has to make his decision," he added.

"Sometimes a new challenge is good but he has to make that decision. I can't say much about this."

Did anyone else's gorge rise when they read this comment? actions1.gif

Riccy is a player we cant afford to lose. He and Essien are absolutely indispensible and we can much easier lose Lamps and Drogba than either of them. I know Alex is good but Riccy and JT are the best duo in the bloody country, possibly the world.

ffs.

The fact he said he would love to be coached by Jose again is not at all encouraging.

The fact we may be signing another Portuguese player (Deco or Quaresma, and we've already got Bosingwa) and maybe their manager too however is encouraging happy0034.gif

i'd be very dissapointed if he left

i'm sure he has at least 3 years on his contract maybe longer (someone will know exactly)

riccy is one of the best defenders in the world, and we should hold him to his contract

losing ricky would be the biggest blow. alex is a very good player but he is totally different to ricky, and we do not have a ricky replacement in any one.

There are definitely few replacements for a player like Riccy. That combination of power and technical ability are few and far between.

But I think the signing of Bosingwa + Scolari potentially, hopefully being the next manager prevents Riccy from leaving. Plus, look at Inter: Samuel, Cordoba, Materazzi, Maicon, Burdisso, Chivu

how much cover does one team need??

Exactly. Whit a defense like that, can't say I'm at all surprised they want someone decent.

In my opinion, even with a lot of good defenders on their books (and Materazzi), Carvalho would still walk into the Inter first team as first choice defender. He is a better centre back than anyone on their books at the moment.

I read something somewhere a few days ago that RC wasn't too happy only getting two thirds of the wages that JT is getting.

£80,000 odd a week, i s'pose.

Maybe he is angling for a pay rise.

He is a quality centre-half - and he must be wondering what Sheva is deserving his £120,000 a week for.

Hmmm- who remembers when he used to play centre-half instead of William Gallas and we got a bit twisted over that.

strange how this has came out only 2 days after he was pushing for scolari to come to chelsea. i doubt hes changed his mind within 2 days. as with everything in the papers at the moment, with england not being at the euros they need something to sell.

he said it so don't blame the papers, he was broadcast on sky sports yesterday...I always thought Ivanovic might have been signed to replace someone who would be leaving in the summer and riccy would always want to play for jose again, didn't need to see quotes from him to know that...but I still hope it's just a means of getting a better contract

He's left it open for the move, can't say it's anything ground breaking or surprising especially with such uncertainty remaining around the club at the moment.

One of the few players in the squad who'd I'd want the club to pay him what he wants, such a vital player.

This is the rumour that scares me the most by a long way.

Finding a similar type of defender to replace Riccy would not be easy at all.

true enough. Riccy is head and shoulders better than most of that shower of sh*te.

Wouldnt mind having Chivu though. Maybe as a replacement

I read that Percy mentioned in an interview how Scolari's possible appointment would have no bearing on his decision and kept saying that he needed to sit down with Kenyon after the Euros to discuss his future.

I think it has more to do with Terry making much more money than him and Lord Percy wants a better contract - and who can blame him - he was easily our best and most consistent defender over the last few seasons.

I hope we don't let it turn into another Gallas like disaster.

I just now realized how close that likeness is

"He is a great manager and a big personality. He's the kind of guy that players respond to and I think we can go forward with him."

Get in!

two brilliant pieces of news in that statement. percy obviously admires scolari, and percy will stay at the bridge. keeping percy will be the best bit of transfer business we do this summer.

BTW did you see Percy's interview on tv? He is probably the shyest guy you can get. It was actually the first time I heard him speak. I want him to stay even more now. Shy and humble guy and brilliant defender. He will concentrate on playing the game instead of caring how his hair looks on TV.

hes rapidly becoming my favourite current player. saw him on chelsea tv once and he looked like a 10 year old being interviewed. looked like he really didnt want to be there.

With 'the special one' taking charge of Inter, and the good relationship between Carvalho and Jose, I personally feels that them both are looking forward to a rendezvous. Now, not much to worry though.. We still have strong centre back like Terry, and the splendid Cech around for us to fall on. But who is filling up for Carvalho though... Hmmm....

Lampard, Essien and Drogba might be heading to the exit next season too... This ain't good news.
