Be interesting to see what new features the site will have once it comes back online.

The old website was awful! I work for the police as a webdesigner and the site always gets laughed from my Liverpool fan colleague

I know, the new one wasn't really that great, it's too compact on the page. The best club websites I've seen are Utd's and Arsenal's. Hopefully the new site will have a change in design.

the chelsea website is poor, any official news is always on the bbc or sky before its on there

its all advertisements

apart from giles smith theres very rarley anything worth reading on there

yet we visit it quite a few times a day

I don't bother much with the OS. It's crap.

I have sent them a request to have us added to that Fans Websites link page

excellent

i've just had a look through the fan sites, there is a lot of rubbish out there, theres 1 or 2 good ones that would be a lot better if they were updated

The CSR is listed but isn't loading. Is that because the site is down or because their links need updating?

Chelsea FC steps up social focus online

Marketing 08-Jul-08, 08:00

LONDON - Premiership football club Chelsea FC is relaunching its website, www.chelseafc.com, enabling fans to personalise their landing page by registering on the site.

Supporters will also be able to download desktop widgets relating to the season's match fixtures, official Chelsea TV video and favourite player feeds through a search mechanism powered by Google. All the functions can be exported to social networking sites.

The website will also include a social networking and discussion area called The Shed for fans to chat, blog, read the latest gossip, participate in polls and create content for fan galleries.

Other features include player profiles and stats, and quick links to the latest ticket and fixture information.

Last December, Chelsea launched a video-sharing service, Bluetube, to which users can upload their own club-related clips. It is part of Chelsea Plus, an area of the site dedicated to club news.

Fans can also watch live pre-season matches through in-house TV station, Chelsea TV, and download podcasts.

According to global sports marketing research comp-any Sport+Markt, Chelsea has 2.4m fans in the UK, and its global fan base has grown by more than 500% since the arrival of Russian owner Roman Abramovich in 2003.

To capitalise on this, the club has launched the site in several languages to target key markets such as China and Russia.
