dreadis
Can somebody help me out, I am a bit confused on when is the kick-off. The CFC site states 10:30 a.m. (British time), but some websites say it is 12:00 CET, which is 11:00 British time. So, when is it exactly?? Or is Chelsea TV starting the coverage half an hour before the kick-off? Edited August 2, 2008 by dreadis

dreadis
Of all the formations and player set-ups used so far, the best one so far was 4-4-2 used in the first game with diamond middle and full-backs running forward. Unfortunately, Bosingwa is out and he was amazing in the first game. I hope Fil uses that one again, with Micky instead of Mikel and Sheva/Di Santo up front with Nic! ChelseaYankee
Start Sheva please. No way. We need to be starting the guys that are going to be playing together when the season begins. Phil said Sheva doesn't get in unless he's going 3-4 deep in subs. Sheva gets in according to depth. Sorry.

Phil said Sheva doesn't get in unless he's going 3-4 deep in subs. Sheva gets in according to depth. Sorry. I think e should start Sheva. Drogba is injured so not available, Pizarro is totally out of the picture, Kalou is away, Si Santos clearly will be an occasional player this season and Anelka has looked average so far. On those grounds Sheva has just as much of a shout to start up front as anyone
g3.7
anelka has looked far from average IMO. but sheva needs more minutes too. start both perhaps.
loz
anelka has looked far from average IMO. Worse than average you say? Lots of Anelkisms - i.e. running into space where is as much threat as a garrison of Swiss soldiers.

g3.7
ha those streams must be extremely blurry loz. my only criticism of him would be not finishing as well as he can, but it's pre season and I'm not overly worried by that. in his favour we've seen him far less static, and offering more runs (and more threat) behind the defence, holding the ball in good areas for support, good touch and involvement in the passing, releasing the ball at the right times. he's scored and made goals... can't really understand your criticism of him so far, he's never going to restrict himself to playing withing the 18 yard box, and he's been very good and almost as important as deco in making the new system function properly. generally movement is a criticism of him, but he's done it well to leave spaces for midfield players to run into, and also to give them an option for the forward pass. hope he can continue like he has done. mad_mac
My main concern is that we are now relying on Sheva, or maybe Anelka, with Di Santo as back up. I truly hope we don't start the season this way

I agree, he's used his pace a lot, broken away from the defence and been on the shoulder of the central defender, everything you ask for in a striker. Only problem is his finishing. Improve that, and he'll be challenging Lamps for golden boot this season

TheWestwayWonder
I know he is slow I know he is old I know alot of people dont respect him because they think he is only in London for the money But why why why do we seem to regard Sheva as an also ran at Chelsea? If we dont give him a chance how the hell can we expect him to ever get out of the funk? Or is it just okay that he sits and collects his wage? Because if he isnt going to be used, pay him a release, send him packing, and lets get a forward we actually trust. Its disgusting, in my opinion, and totally contravenes every law of good sense I was screaming for Grant to bring him on during the CL final. 50+ goals in the Champions League, and we leave him sitting for a striker who left a half back to take a penalty before him. If I was in Moscow, i wouldve pulled the jowels straight off Avram's gob I was so mad I seriously feel like I am taking crazy pills over this issue. Why? The only somewhat logical thing I can see is...something must be going on behind the curtain at practice. Maybe Sheva is head and shoulders below the rest of the squad? That's certainly not something they would tell us aside from not playing him. I don't think this is the issue, just playing devils advocate. Guest
I'm probably going to put Sheva into my fantasy football side this season coming up. I think with the change of style, we are going to see Sheva start playing some good stuff again. Remember his goal scoring record last season is not bad at all, dispite the crap he gets and the fact he was playing a role he wasn't particularly suited to. blizeH
I believe that putting Anelka on instead of Shevchenko cost us that final. Shevchenko had a lot to prove and a lot to make-up for, he's a class act and would of played his socks off, and definitely wouldn't of refused to take a penalty in place of John Terry. It's interesting to see that Shevchenko is still pretty popular with the majority of fans; not sure if it's because he oozes class and comes across as a top guy and professional, whether people base it on previous form or whether people genuinely believe he can be great at Chelsea. Personally, I'll go with all three What time does this match kick off again?
