I guess so. I looked through the squad for 1986 (it wasn't that big then) and Speedie seemd the obvious candidate. Nevin also mentions in the book that Speedie had training-ground fights with several of the squad, including Dixon, Mclaughlin and Colin Lee.

Anyone else reading Pat Nevin's new book? Cracking read. I didn't know much about his upbringing in Scotland but the way his Dad trained him was incredible. Still on the Chelsea section, just got to the bit where an unnamed player gets drunk on a pre-season tour in Wales and assaults Canoville, who is then moved out of the club while the unnamed player stays...I guess that explains why the team fell apart in 86/87

Fabulous performance last night and it's incredible what TT has done with this team. But I think it's fair to add that although Lampard was a great player, he is truly an abysmal manager. Sacking Lampard and appointing Tuchel was a stroke of genius by Abramovich, but a great percentage of Chelsea fans got this call flat-out wrong

What a brilliant night. And what a fantastic team we now have under Tuchel. Let's hope the club and the manager can sort things out to make this a multi-year success

I remember queueing to get into Cambridge United stadium in Feb 1984. Chelsea fans had the whole side of the ground and people were pissing against the corrugated iron wall at the back. As you entered the turnstiles you had to dodge the piss as it flooded down from above. At Chelsea who could forget the Bovril gate urinals, regularly ankle deep...

The sooner Chelsea gets rid of Lampard and appoints a proper manager the better. He only got appointed because of his reputation as a player and that is not good enough. Older fans may remember the Geoff Hurst era - very similar to now.

Chelsea should keep Rudiger and get rid of Lampard. The guy is ruining the club

TBH it's embarrassing how oblivious Chelsea fans are to managerial faults just because it's Lampard (and Morris). What I can't understand is why the owner puts up with it. The quality of football is now as bad as during the Porterfield/Webb era. Clueless.

Lampard is way out of his depth and deep down we all know it. Time for RA to admit he made a mistake and appoint someone who knows what he is doing.

Not only is Lampard not sorting out the problems in defence, they are getting worse. 3 at West Ham, 3 at Sheffield United, 5 last night. What a shambles. It's like watching playground kick and rush football. His blaming of errors just doesn't cut it. Every decent manager we've had in the last twenty years has built from the back. Vialli did, Ranieri did, Mourinho, Ancelotti, Conte, even Sarri. Lampard does not know what he is doing. And worst of all he is going to do more damage before he goes as he is getting far too much leeway on the back of his reputation as a player.

Lampard is extremely lucky that his team is where it is. Chelsea's defence is an absolute shambles and the worst since the early 1990s. His midfield selections are baffling and when Chelsea lose possession, as they invariably do after Mount, James or Barkley have the ball, it's panic stations as the opposing team can create chances at will. I do not rate Lampard as a manager at all and wish we had someone who knew what he was doing.

There is no sign he will develop his own solutions. His post-match comments blamed the defenders for not moving the ball forward even faster. But Abraham can't win a one-to-one like Costa could and half the other players have no idea where they are supposed to be moving.
