Well if the young lad didn't think he would get first team football here after probably meeting with the club what else were they going to do with him? Sign him for 30mil and have him occasionally on the bench. The transfer policy the last two summers have been a shambles.

The club probably wanted to send him out on loan. I can't believe they wouldn't have told him he wouldn't have been first choice since we didn't have a left back. Maybe it could be a blessing in disguise if we don't get a left back in and have to use someone like jay de silva if we get Injuries. The kid looks like he could be the left back for the next 10 years or more if given a chance.

why after spending over 15mil on Luiz another 20mil on baba and if this player is secured for the reported fee of 17mil why the hell didn't we sign Luke shaw. At the rate of getting through left backs we will probably spend 100 million in the next ten years were as shaw would have cost 3 million a season.

If we sign another centre back will conte switch to 3 at the back with zouma on his way back from injury. the development squad is now playing 3 at the back surely only a matter of time before the senior squad start playing the same way.

Honestly don't see the sense in signing mandzukic unless he is going to play 442. Would rather give one of the youth a go instead on having a third choice striker sitting on the bench on 100k+ a week.

Would switch matic and Kante don't think matic gives you anything in there plus Kante can run box to box.

I think Aina could start this year with Dave at LB until we sign someone else to play there. If conte does play 442 as he has been doing I don't think we need a lot of central midfield players we all ready have cesc matic Nat Kante and Mikel. Oscar I think will move on. Hazard will be wasted in the left midfield position running up and down. I expect him to play as one of the 2 central strikers this season. We really need another CB which I hope will be signed very soon.

The first two games he seemed to play 442 with high wingers against Liverpool it seemed to play 451 with Traore given freedom to break forward when ever we had the ball. I'm very surprised we haven't sold more players because if he does play 442 we have a vast number of midfielders for the two central positions. I really hoped he would have played either 352 or 433 with 3 floating forward players. If he continues with the 442 or 424 I would really like to see hazard play central because I think he would be wasted running up and down when he could be the link between the midfield and the forward player something we really missed in the two Austrian games.

I really hope not his legs have gone. He should put some trust in Aina and play him next season. We don't have any European football so having a huge squad of superstars won't work and will only end up one way. Not really he hasn't had long enough to work with the players. TBH a few of the players didn't know to press the ball or stay in position. William a few times in the first half looked at him to get instructions.

After watching yesterday's game I don't think we can read to much into the result it was Chelsea's first pre season game against a team who are now ready for the season. Chelsea TV had the team playing the same formation 4231 as last season but as soon as the game started it looked more like a deep 442 and finished in a 424. It was good to see some of the young players getting a run out in the second half. Personally I would sell Mikel if he plays 424 with a high press as he just can't press the game and I think chalobah offers more than him. I would 100% include aina in the squad next season his passing was poor yesterday but the guy is really quick and with work could be a real super star at either RB or LB.

Complete let down again playing the same players. Why pump so much money into the youth team when they can't even get in the team in a nothing game.

Think it could be the kick up the ass the boy needs tho saying that I would rather him given games in beside matic instead of playing as a number 10. he played well against MK Dons in the FA cup but didn't seem match fit and looked like he was saving himself. I'd defiantly like to see him impose himself on games more next season if given a chance

I also hope your right. I would prefer conte set with a target of top four and to bring the youngers into the first team. We don't have any European football next season so we don't need a massive squad of players. I also think if Jose does join united in the summer he will win the league the next few seasons so it will let us blood the kids to see what we have.

Totally agree with you. Even tho matic has been terrible this season I would have rather given RLC 10 games beside him instead of playing Mikel. A lot of the young kids must be wondering how they will ever get a game when some of the senior players have been so poor this season and they still can't get a game. Conte will have done his home work he knows what William can do why not play Kennedy the whole game last instead of william or pedro. Just to pick up on another point I seen someone saying a lot of the fans wanting instant success. I would rather see conte be given a target of top four for the next 2 seasons with the hope of playing some of the younger players then hopefully being ready to challenge for the league in his last year.

Difference is Keane didn't play wide right in a 3 behind 1 centre forward. William is meant to be an attacking midfield player. You can't compare the two players.

It all depends on which way conte wants to play. If he plays 3 at the back I don't see were William fits in even hazard for that matter unless he plays him as one of the 2 forwards. It's all ifs and buts at the minute no one knows what expectitions will be placed on the team next season. If conte does play 433 yes I would sell William if he could get in a player like greizmann to replace him. It's not that I don't like William I think he's been our best player this season but I would like to see us be more attacking under conte and I don't see him fitting in as one of the forward players.

I think it will totally depend on what formation conte wants to play who stays and goes. I would like to see JT get another years contract with less playing time but moved more towards coaching and helping the younger guys transition from under 21 to senior level even ifs it's only for a year. i would really love to see Chelsea change to 2 or 3 forwards next season with two attacking full back and push high up the pitch instead of the team dropping deep. Once the season finished I would like to see us try and sign Kante from Leicester going by reports he's open to a move and would be a steal at 20-25 million. I think we need a good centre back someone with a bit of experience who can organise a back four to play along side zouma when back from injury. If Ake returns he should start after a successful year on loan. if de silva is up to playing first team football I would use him as back up and sell baba. Baba is a funny one we paid 20 million plus hasn't been liked by the past 2 managers unless they see something on the training pitch day in day out we don't I don't understand signing him RLC, baker and MVG should be given a place in the squad next season given a chance at least in pre season to prove they deserve a place in the squad. I don't think RLC is a number 10 were he has been played. With no European football next year I would really like to see us have a team of core experienced first team players and the rest made up of kids. I don't think we need a huge squad either. I think William has been great this season but I think we could get over 30+ for him this season and with no champions league football conte mite not be given a treasure chest full of cash so with the players being sold it would allow conte to sign a top forward and centre back.

After reading all these posts no one knows what goes on at the club who buys the players and what really happened behind the scenes this season. The season has been a total disaster. The squad is totally unbalanced. We have spent 37 million on 2 left backs in the past 2 seasons and neither could get in the team tho we did get some of the money back for Luis. Jose didnt seem to fancy Baba and Guus would rather play Kennedy who is an attacking right middle player at left back that speaks volumes as they see these guys Day in day out. Going buy reports in the summer We tried to sell Mikel only the total package was costing the Turkish side close to 30 million why is he still in the team. If the club expect such big things from the kids they should be playing every game until the end of the season. The new manager then will know what he has for next season and which areas to improve on. He should be given full control of the transfer dealings for players coming into the first team. The team should have a style of play and a formation that's played from top to bottom and mangers should only be hired who fits this remit. I keep seeing fans saying Emenola done well signing de brune and lukaku. De brune played against us in the champions league anyone who seen the game could have told you he would have been a good player as for lukaku he had a host of top European sides watching him. it's not like he unearthed a gem.

I don't think Jose signed Luiz why would you sign someone and not give them a far crack at making the LB slot his own. If the club see Baba as the new long term LB he should be given the rest of the season to show what he has but up to now for someone who cost 21 million you would expect him to come straight into the team. Far to many players have been signed and never played which tells me that the manager isn't signing the players. I think the manager must sign the players and be held accountable for the signings he makes as well as introducing some of the younger lads into the team. Some of the fringe players don't even look fully fit because they get no game time what so ever. I watched RLC play against MK Dons in the FA cup and he looked off the pace he seemed to be saving himself instead of being fully fit and able to get about the pitch for the full 90 minutes.

I think peps in for a shock in England. As this season has shown there is no easy games plus he will need to rebuild that whole team over the next few years

Of course the squad hadn't improved from last season apart from the addition of pedro who has been decent at times the summer transfers have been a disaster. The squad is terribly unbalanced. Fans keep talking about Baba getting more games but the two mangers who have been at the club this season haven't played him and from what I have seen myself we have a better left back on loan at Watford in Ake. It's been a complete waste of a reported fee of 21 million. I would like to see us try and get a good fee for Oscar in the summer I honestly thought after his first rest over the summer he would have had a real good season but he is very inconsistent and for me is defiantly not a number 10 he doesn't have that killer pass to play in the role. What we should be doing now is give RLC Kennedy and Bernard full games until the end of the season as well as the young right back Aina. Matic has been very poor this season by his own standards but he should be used in front of the back 4 with RLC beside him I don't know what mangers see in Mikel apart from a few good games over the years he is one of the worst DM I have ever seen. He slows play down only passes side wards players consistently run off him and I don't think I have ever seen the guy sprint. He should def go in the summer.

Jose looked like a defeated man on Monday night in that interview. If I was jose I would drop the under performing stars and play the kids and change the formation to 4-3-3. For all the money we have spent and the players we have let go we still don't have a quality number 10. Oscar is shocking I cant remember the last time he played a quality through ball plus he should be scoring 10+ goals a season. Jose isn't blameless since January last season the football has been slow and predictable. We don't even create changes we are lucky if we have 3 shots on target a game of late. If the players aren't playing for the shirt make them train on their own and sell them in the summer not January.

I honestly think the current form is down to everyone at the club. The recruitment of players in the summer was terrible. Apart from pedro who is still adapting to english football not one player improved the squad who struggled to get over the line at the end of last season. They needed a centre back Central midfield player and another top striker. Coming back late to pre season hasn't help as it looks like most of the players lacked perfessionalism in the summer to keep themselfs in shape. Jose needs to stop blaming refs and others an admit at times the team as been abysmal. I keep reading about the football the team play last season was the best football chelsea has played in years for the first half of the season. The problem I see with the current team is that they play to narrow with no width from the full backs and the attacking players just aren't creating enough chances for who ever plays up top. Not one of the three who play behind Costa will run ahead of the ball they all want it to feet which makes it easy for the opposing team. This is not helped having Oscar playing at number 10 he is terrible can't beat a man and his final ball is shocking for a player who plays in the hole.
