May 3, 201610 yr I think we have all noticed that there is a lot of deadwood in the squad that we could afford to get rid of to make room for youth or new signings. I don't expect there to be a large number of players sold in the summer however the players I wouldn't shed a tear about losing would be (not including loanees): Matic Ivanovic Mikel Remy Oscar Just wondering, what players do you think should be moved on before next season?
May 3, 201610 yr ivanovic is a vice captain so probs won't go. he should though, absolute liability and has been since end of last season. oscar maybe, remy yes, mikel, not sure; matic, no, he needs another season to see if form returns under conte in a new system that caters to his ability.
May 3, 201610 yr Ivan signed a new deal so there is next to no chance of him being sold. He should be used as CB at the very most, hopefully Conte has taken note of how woeful he has been.
May 3, 201610 yr Matic? Last season was one of the best DM's in the league, this season he had few good games but disappointed in most of his games. He deserves another season to improve himself.
May 3, 201610 yr I will say it again but how did Ivanovic get a new contract and not Terry. Iva is literally a liability to the team and has to go. Mikel has had his time, he needs to go and play first team football elsewhere and Chelsea need some new blood. Matic should get another season with Conte Remy and Oscar I reckon will go. Obviously Falco and Pato will.
May 3, 201610 yr Ivan isn't going anywhere but shouldn't be first choice right back as poor all season. Mikel and Remy i wouldn't mind seeing leave especially Remy whose pretty much Ba all over again but even worse. Oscar and Matic i wouldn't mind staying but if we play 3-5-2 then Oscar's natural position doesn't fit the squad.
May 3, 201610 yr Signing a new contract counts for naught these days. Evra signed a new contract, days later, he moved, so also Ramires at the beginning of the season, Iva signing a new contract doesn't guarantee him a spot in the team or him staying. However, I think he should stay if Terry seems to be leaving, we would need him and other experienced hands to guide the youth and enlighten the new signings about the club's ethos and all.
May 3, 201610 yr Courtois (If he wants to leave) Cahill Terry (hope its otherwise) Baba (loan back to germany) Mikel (First one I would get rid of) Oscar Willian (If we get a good offer) Hazard (Only If he wants to leave) Falcao Pato Remy costa (Only if he wants to leave)

May 3, 201610 yr Matic - He's had a bad season but so have many others and we know he's capable of being one of the best DMs in Europe. Selling him would be a decision that we'll regret pretty quickly, much like last time we sold him. Ivanovic - Could be useful as a CB and is clearly an influential senior squad member. I'd just like to see him playing less at RB. Mikel - Every team needs to have dependable back-up players who don't complain if they're sitting on the bench week-in week-out. Mikel is a very useful squad member and does exactly what is asked of him. Remy - Decent player but too fragile and always seems to be injured when we need him. Liverpool made the right decision in not signing him when he failed their medical. One for the transfer list. Oscar - I'm on the fence about him. He has been disappointing in the last couple of seasons and I don't think we'd miss him greatly if he went, but I'm not desperate to get rid of him. Pato, Falcao - Get rid. Either have Bamford in the squad next season (along with Traore) or sign a proper back up to Costa. Baba Rahman - If we had a better left-sided defender it would allow us to move Azpilicuetta to RB in place of Ivanovic. I don't think Baba is the answer.
May 3, 201610 yr Agree with Ivanovic, Remy and Oscar. Matic has been class at some stage so I would keep him and see how he does, Mikel will never leave so I can't be arsed even discussing it.
May 3, 201610 yr Mikel - Brilliant servant of the club, but his time is up. Does not add much to the team and squad. Ivanovic - Similar to Mikel. Cahill - Gives his all every time he takes the pitch, but he simply is not good enough. JT - Not sure. But its probably time. Specially if it means promoting Andreas. Cesc - Despite his brilliant vision, his more apparent flaws and liabilities make it very hard to have any balance whatsoever. While he definitely is not a deadwood, I still would sell him and get Pjanic/Gundogan. Oscar - No brainer. One of the worst players on our payroll. Pedro - I would rather give Musonda and/or Kenedy the oppurtunity. Remy, Falcao, Pato - The fearsome 3 some. I think they deserve more to be playing for Barcelona than chelsea. So we should let them leave. :)
May 3, 201610 yr I'd genuinely get rid of the following. Courtois. Loudmouth and media whore. Overrated and would bring a lot of money. Ivanovic. Cash in whilst we can. Passed his best. Cahill. See Ivanovic. Baba. Cut our losses and would get decent money from Germany. Mikel. Still flatters to deceive and time to wave goodbye. Matic. Definitely get rid. He has been diabolical and doesn't seem interested most matches. Oscar. Total disappointment. Will never make it as a top player and we could cash in on him. Willian. If he were five years younger, I'd keep him as his end product may improve but at his age, he should be the complete article and he's not. Works very hard and gives his all. I would keep him unless anyone offers 30m+ for him. Pedro. Again, he is useful but we could get decent money for him and he doesn't offer enough. Very inconsistent. Salah and Cuadrado - sell. Remy and Falcao. Bye. Costa, Hazard, Fabregas, Zouma, Azpilequeta, Terry and Naingollan if he signs, are all fantastic players to build a squad around. Would be a huge change in personel but after this season, who could blame Conte if he decided to make such a change.

With Ake coming back from Loan, we can have Ake and Baba fight it out for the Left back spot. Definitely Agree with Cahill, Iva, Mikel, Pedro, Oscar, Salah, Cuadrado, Remy, Falcao and may I add Pato. One thing I dont agree is Matic. yes he has been Pathetic, but he was also the best DM in PL a season ago. Definitely Worth a shot. We should not be building anything around JT. I love the guy with all my heart, But there are 2 places where we need massive upgrades - CM and CB and we should be doing everything to get both of these. Bonucci/Benatia (if the hummels rumors are true) or even Andreas would all be a good shout.
May 3, 201610 yr Apparently reports in Spain have claimed that Man City have agreed a few for Laporte. I really wanted him at Chelsea.

We would require about 10 new players, simply unrealistic.

May 3, 201610 yr May seem excessive but he is an outstanding talent. Easily a mainstay for the next decade.
May 3, 201610 yr If Chelsea are getting rid of Terry they won't get rid of Cahill too, that's too many changes at the back but Chelsea need to start using natural fullbacks who push forward. Just look at Rose and Walker for Spurs. If you use two DMs it's pretty simple football to cover the space they leave if needed. Personally I would give Cuadrado a fair chance, never got one initially at Chelsea because Mourinho makes his mind up about a player after 10mins. If Willian and Oscar have been given a fair go then why not Cuadrado who has performed at a high level in Italy. I thought a deal for Salah to Roma had already been agreed. I think 20m for Kante would be a bargain. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ox or Walcott ends up at Chelsea by the end of the summer, that's if the board control some of the transfers.
May 3, 201610 yr May seem excessive but he is an outstanding talent. Easily a mainstay for the next decade. I agree, top defender. Would like him at Chelsea. I was more questioning all the money City have spent last summer and most likely will this summer, big sums of money.
May 3, 201610 yr It's hard for me to understand how many people think it's feasible to simply exchange half of the squad with a vague bunch of 'better' players. It might be possible in Championship Manager but in real life it doesn't work that way.

It might be possible in Championship Manager but in real life it doesn't work that way. Especially when our new manager will be busy all summer with leading his country in the Euros. No top team is able to build a new squad in the matter of 1 window, it's fantasy. As much as we have poor performing players the reality is most will be staying.
May 3, 201610 yr Matic? please no, i still (want to) believe that he can be back to his best under Conte
