Matic? please no, i still (want to) believe that he can be back to his best under Conte

 

I hope he stays too, but I think his frame and lack of positional awareness prevents him from being a top DM (as evidenced last night v Spurs). As a DM he has the same shortcomings as Motta/Mikel. Personally I hope we sign Kante with Matic playing in a more advanced position alongside (hopefully) Naingollan/Fabregas next season.

I can see us selling Oscar, Remy, Cuadrado and Salah atleast, while Terry, Falcao and Pato will be out of contract. 

Hadn't Ramires signed a new contract just before he left?

Yeah this means nothing. In some ways it's ensuring the club get the sell on fee rather losing a player for nothing.

I am firmly in the Matic must go camp. I know it's 'only' one bad season, but it has been an absolutely catastrophic fall from grace. From being the pivotal cog to a traffic cone in one summer. Get a big a fee as possible.

Oscar too can go. Plus obvious ones like Falcao and Remy who has been used sporadically and always been miles off the pace.

It's hard for me to understand how many people think it's feasible to simply exchange half of the squad with a vague bunch of 'better' players. It might be possible in Championship Manager but in real life it doesn't work that way. 

To be fair to a lot of people (that i know of personally), people dont really want or even "expect" better players for half the team, except for 2 CMs and a Defender

Out of these 9 changes to the present squad, I think 6 changes  which are not "better" players. These are dead woods/loaned in/end of contract players which have to be thrown out for the youth to be integrated. The only "better" players people are clamoring for is something that I feel the board are already very aware of. Radja has been rumored with us for sometime now, and has a good CB. A better DLP than cesc is my choice.

Squad needs to be added to and strengthened, not weakened.

Iva signing a new contract doesn't guarantee him a spot in the team or him staying.However, I think he should stay if Terry seems to be leaving, we would need him and other experienced hands to guide the youth and enlighten the new signings about the club's ethos and all.

Personally I think we could massively transform this squad with just one signing. Anthony Robbins, sh*t at football but could probably help address the biggest obstacle to this team enjoying success again.

I think a more interesting subject is which of our loanees that return will remain at the club

advanced position? as much as i want him to succeed again, if we are ever going to use Matic to attack, might as well play with 10

there is no worse sight than seeing Matic running headlessly straight toward opposition

i think his best position is DM. no more than that. he just need to be more discipline

agreed but it's feasible enough back then for some fans to change pretty much the whole squad for the sake of 1 disgrunted manager..

 

Personally I think there isn't much wrong with our squad, still 1 of the best, probably just need to 2 or 3 new players to compete..

I will say it again but how did Ivanovic get a new contract and not Terry.

 

Money talks.. check out his current wage.. At the end of the day, I believe it would be down to Terry whether he wants to take a massive paycut..

I would like us to get a total DM (kante? nainggolan? not sure but he needs to be enjoying protecting the back 4 and breaking up play, the focus must be that).. If we can get that, I think bring back mata is not a bad idea considering he won't be fancied by jose thus lowering his fee and we know how effective mata can be connecting with other intelligent players.. After that, a veteran intelligent CB is required, is mat hummel still good enough? or does JT still have what it takes?

 

Griezman is another I would like to jhave and it's not that impossible especially if he wins CL this season with AM but I admit  this 1 could be costly, maybe another time, we'll see..

 

Next season can be used to integrate youth to be the back up, surely nobody expecting for quadruple, no? if not then, we should have enough.. More importantly is to maintan the harmony and togetherness inside the camp and we'll be ok because we have good enough quality..

Id keep Ivanovic personally but only to be used as a CB. It's easy for people to say get rid but he's one of our big personalities and you need to keep those guys around. Look what happened when we let go of Cech and Drogba.

New manager, an Italian , so be sure the search is on for the new stars to replace the old. There have been few Italians at chelsea, one very notable magnificent exception, one will be remembered for his 43 sec goal and a CL victory and one I can remember passed his best. Expecting more from that source but await the end of the Euros.

• Matic - He's had a bad season but so have many others and we know he's capable of being one of the best DMs in Europe. Selling him would be a decision that we'll regret pretty quickly, much like last time we sold him.
• Ivanovic - Could be useful as a CB and is clearly an influential senior squad member. I'd just like to see him playing less at RB.
• Mikel - Every team needs to have dependable back-up players who don't complain if they're sitting on the bench week-in week-out. Mikel is a very useful squad member and does exactly what is asked of him.
• Remy - Decent player but too fragile and always seems to be injured when we need him. Liverpool made the right decision in not signing him when he failed their medical. One for the transfer list.
• Oscar - I'm on the fence about him. He has been disappointing in the last couple of seasons and I don't think we'd miss him greatly if he went, but I'm not desperate to get rid of him.

Pato, Falcao - Get rid. Either have Bamford in the squad next season (along with Traore) or sign a proper back up to Costa.

Baba Rahman - If we had a better left-sided defender it would allow us to move Azpilicuetta to RB in place of Ivanovic. I don't think Baba is the answer.

All great points sir. Baba Rahman particularly. He just seems to lack awareness and have poor positional sense.

I think Oscar is the obvious one to go for me. He will suit other leagues better than ours. His best is very good, the neat interchanges around the area can unpick any defence but he just does it so rarely. Very much a confidence player. I would prefer a more box to box replacement .

Matic and Mikel I'm happy to keep around. Supported by a proper structure that doesn't leave one of them as a lone player in the 40 yards of space between our high press and deep defensive line will assist. Perhaps a player woth more energy is needed in that role (Kryochwiak from Sevilla comes to mind) but in a season where we may not have that option without CL football both of those two players can help us get back in the CL for 2017-18. Ivan is in the same boat though I'd like to see him played more as CB rather than at RB. He is too readily exposed there these days.

Terry should not start anymore, Ivan can't start as right back. Dave, Cahill still potential starters, Ivan maybe in Centre, baba maybe at lb. if baba stays needs much more confidence and has to up his work rate, but this can happen.

The midfield needs more pace, matic and mikel are just too slow for my taste, although both can be good players.

The major question is fab, on many a day he is a game winner but can also be a liability, when he plays deep our other midfield choices are limited. There would be case for changing the midfield completely and sacrificing fab.

Hazard is a certain starter if motivated, and I am sure he wants to win the champs league.

Costa probably still has another season in him.

Willian despite being the best player this season may not be the best answer.

We need more pace and power in the base of the midfield and Centre of defense and we need some top wing backs

Maybe we should go 4:3:3 and play fab wider on the right despite his lack of pace and have two other midfielders

I think it will totally depend on what formation conte wants to play who stays and goes. I would like to see JT get another years contract with less playing time but moved more towards coaching and helping the younger guys transition from under 21 to senior level even ifs it's only for a year.

i would really love to see Chelsea change to 2 or 3 forwards next season with two attacking full back and push high up the pitch instead of the team dropping deep. Once the season finished I would like to see us try and sign Kante from Leicester going by reports he's open to a move and would be a steal at 20-25 million.

I think we need a good centre back someone with a bit of experience who can organise a back four to play along side zouma when back from injury.

If Ake returns he should start after a successful year on loan. if de silva is up to playing first team football I would use him as back up and sell baba. Baba is a funny one we paid 20 million plus hasn't been liked by the past 2 managers unless they see something on the training pitch day in day out we don't I don't understand signing him

RLC, baker and MVG should be given a place in the squad next season given a chance at least in pre season to prove they deserve a place in the squad. I don't think RLC is a number 10 were he has been played.

With no European football next year I would really like to see us have a team of core experienced first team players and the rest made up of kids. I don't think we need a huge squad either.

I think William has been great this season but I think we could get over 30+ for him this season and with no champions league football conte mite not be given a treasure chest full of cash so with the players being sold it would allow conte to sign a top forward and centre back.

There is so much tripe at this club I just wouldn't know where to start or who to get rid of first, but that said when are lot are up for it we'll beat anyone just like the 2nd half the other night has proven and the season before too.

I would try to keep hazard, hes obviously still got something to offer.

Let Conte to get on with it, he layed the foundtions of the current Juve side so he can be trusted.

It all depends on which way conte wants to play. If he plays 3 at the back I don't see were William fits in even hazard for that matter unless he plays him as one of the 2 forwards. It's all ifs and buts at the minute no one knows what expectitions will be placed on the team next season. If conte does play 433 yes I would sell William if he could get in a player like greizmann to replace him. It's not that I don't like William I think he's been our best player this season but I would like to see us be more attacking under conte and I don't see him fitting in as one of the forward players.

All Willian really offers is an engine. One runner in the team is all that is needed and with Nainggolan possibly coming in i can't see where Willian would fit. Could easily get an upgrade and would definitely sell if we can make a profit on the £32mil paid for him.

I honestly think to many people think that we can do what they do on a FIFA game and it will work. You need those hard graft type players in a team. They can't all be flashy players.
