Disdain for someone else's opinion is fine, but you could of at least articulated your disdain with a more suitable response than 'lol'. It's just a lack of respect and contributes f**k all mate. He could have said Diego's a proper c**t if he justified why. Granted I'm guilty for doing the same a couple of days ago. Edited May 5, 201610 yr by the special one
May 5, 201610 yr A lot of people are suggesting it will be difficult to lure quality players without the champions league carrot.. rightly so, but I don't think it's the be all and end all.As an example, if you're a player being chased by both Leicester and Chelsea, with the utmost respect possible to Leicester, I still look at Chelsea being the more chosen option in most cases. I might be biased, but i think we have a lot more to offer which out weighs the fact Leicester are playing champions league next season.
May 5, 201610 yr Even when we win the league we have a thread on summer clear out. I don think there will be one - there is not a bottomless pit of funds we are in self sustaining mode. I would go for around about 3 in 3 out.

They deserve to be there but no one is seriously thinking of them as a big club. Problem is with the likes of United, liverpool city and possibly arsenal all wanting the same players as us. First, we have no european football to offer. Second, we dont have pockets as deep as United and city. We have a summer of frustration ahead if we dont do our business early.

We can offer better wages than 2 of those clubs and the thing we have over the other two is location. London is huge when it comes to attracting players, just look at Alexis. Champions League football is not the be all end all that I think it's made out to be.
May 6, 201610 yr Author Even when we win the league we have a thread on summer clear out. I don think there will be one - there is not a bottomless pit of funds we are in self sustaining mode. I would go for around about 3 in 3 out. To be honest this post wasn't intended to insinuate we should have a summer clearout. I just wanted to see which players people thought wouldn't be missed if sold on. I agree with you that 3 in 3 out seems about right.
May 6, 201610 yr Author I really don't care. Try for Abyumang from Dortmund or a punt on a youngster, or search for the next lower league Jamie Vardy if need be. I can't stand Costa's on field personna, his second touch is often a tackle and like Matic his aerial prowess for someone his size is rubbish. Yeah sell Costa, i hate having a striker that can easily hit 20 goals a season
May 6, 201610 yr Costa needs to go, he's a f**king liability. Earlier in the season I was all for it but who else is there? Do folk want to go back to the Eto'o, Ba and Torres days when we had f**k all up front and we bitched and moaned for a 20 odd goal a season striker? Yes he's a loose cannon at times and he will miss a few games because of his personality but he is the best striker we have and there isn't anyone out there who we could realistically bring in to replace him.
May 6, 201610 yr Yeah sell Costa, i hate having a striker that can easily hit 20 goals a season He's not hit 20 this season.
May 6, 201610 yr He was last season, and the season before that and the season before that.... Everyone in our squad has had a poor season. The fact is he is capable of scoring those kind of numbers when no one else we have can.
May 6, 201610 yr His fitness at the begining of this season was shocking. What's to stop him hitting the pies and pints again this summer? He's a loose cannon. Better off without him.
May 6, 201610 yr His fitness at the begining of this season was shocking. What's to stop him hitting the pies and pints again this summer? He's a loose cannon. Better off without him. It was, he should have been fined tbh. He did however come out and say it was unacceptable and he will not make the same mistake again so credit to him for having the balls to admit it. With a new manager coming in and a disappointing season behind him I really think he will knuckle down in pre season and be in top condition this time. If Hazard is allowed a second chance then so should Diego.
May 6, 201610 yr Author He's not hit 20 this season. He's hit 15 and he only really started scoring in January. Says a lot about what he can do.
May 6, 201610 yr I think we have to be careful in deciding what assets to get rid of, considering we are in our weakest position in over a decade in terms of being able to replace them. Our players have, almost to a man, hugely disappointed this season, however we know that many of them (Courtois, Matic, Fabregas, Hazard) are capable of playing at a world-class or near-world-class level, and most of those who are capable of such have at least shown glimpses of returning to that kind of standard (Matic probably being the exception). We have to be extremely wary; the players available to us now (unless we are very lucky or very clever) are likely not going to be capable of rising to such a standard. Evidently we need to make some additions, that much is glaringly obvious. However, for the most part, I would like to see us build around the players we already have. I don't think we will be capable of replacing the likes of Courtois, Fabregas, Hazard, Willian or Costa, and we should be absolutely certain that we can do without before we discard them. I am aware that it is tempting to react according to what we have witnessed this season, but we have to be very, very careful. The upcoming summer is going to be unbelievably important in defining our progress as a club over the next half a decade, and possibly longer.
May 6, 201610 yr I just feel that the team we have at them moment turn it on and off whenever they like. I hope Conte has a positive influence on them.
May 6, 201610 yr Like Willian I think we're better off with him, Diego has a proven track record in the PL and without CL next season we need any competitive advantage we can get. If Lukaku was to join I'd be content to see him go perhaps but replacing him with a forward with no proven domestic record is a risk I'd prefer the club didn't take. That said I hope we add to the squad by signing Perisic/Mandzukic to give us some more options up front. Get rid of Pato/Falcao/Remy, keep Traore and bring back Izzy Brown (or Perica perhaps) and/or Bamford/Solanke. Edited May 6, 201610 yr by the special one
May 6, 201610 yr I just feel that the team we have at them moment turn it on and off whenever they like. I hope Conte has a positive influence on them. It’s a fair comment based on this season but hopefully that was a one off situation. A mixture of the manager being too lenient with players on pre-season, bust ups with staff and players with attitude problems. Conte seems the type that wouldn’t stand for anyone giving a half arsed effort so the ones he picks will be 100% for the cause I’d imagine. As the above posts point out we are not in a position to get rid of our biggest assets because we simply can’t replace their quality given our current situation. We should give them another chance to prove us all wrong and right their wrong of this season. If Hazard and Costa perform like they did last season we will be right up there again in the CL places and maybe even challenging for the title again.

I like Costa, obviously, and I think we should keep him. However, if we signed Higuain he could replace him. He's really the only one out there I can think of who can replicate his scoring and would also be willing to come to Chelsea with no CL. edit: saw a couple posts above about Lukaku. I think he could also be a viable replacement. Edited May 6, 201610 yr by TheChelsRVA
May 6, 201610 yr Courtois - If he wants to go and we can get 50m SELL Baba- Probably worth another season, although deep down we all know he isnt good enough. Cahill- If he wasnt english Id say sell, but we need to try and keep a core of Homegrown. Matic - While we can still get decent money for him SELL. People asking for another seaosn are deluded. He will hardly play and his value will only decrease. Mikel - No brainer. Not good enough. SELL Oscar - SELL SELL SELL. Should be the first shipped off/ Pedro - Keep. Probably couldnt get many better players for 15m which is all he would go for. Remy/Falcao - SELL. No explaination needed. Hazard - Keep at all costs. Still one of the most talented in the world. New manager may bring new lease of life. Costa - Personally i would sell, especially if can get £35m plus. Injury prone and always hassle. Also loses the ball so many times in needless situations for us. He is a beast in certain/games and situations, but if we could lure a lewondowski, aubemayang, kane or higuain its a no brainer,
