May 9, 201610 yr What I don't get is the young lads keep winning trophies so they're obviously talented. Surely you'd think a few of them could break into the first team.

Don't you know if just 1 gets in it's a success? I also have the notion that if they're winning all these things at home and abroad they must be miles ahead of most reserve players. We should expect more from them in turn
May 9, 201610 yr It's a crime, how for the past 15 years, The way our club has chosen to pay lip service to our young talented academy players......JT Being the only regular 1st team player to have made the transition....... It is absolutely fc King awful and some big changes need to happen next season
May 9, 201610 yr But yet Emalano said that everyone in the club wants to see youth - including Roman and the board. Lip service.

May 10, 201610 yr i might be wrong, but isn't it the manager's responsibility to integrate the youth? i mean he's the one that choose who to play and who not toi think the board have done their part, they built one of the best academy in the country, but the ultimate decision is down to the manager interested to hear your point of views about this
May 10, 201610 yr Wait.. So is Loftus-Cheek sold or kept? Or will it be one of those Matic deals where we sell him for £1m in summer then sign him back in January for £25m? I think there's an element of irony in the list. Just saying.
May 11, 201610 yr But yet Emalano said that everyone in the club wants to see youth - including Roman and the board. Lip service. The manager decides which players play not the board, not Emenalo.

Some managers like Fergie and Wenger assume full control of all football related matters including the academy players, and some managers prefer to focus only on the first team. In that instance, the club needs to have a system in place for promoting youth players into the manager's squad. At Chelsea, I think our turnover of managers has probably meant that we're left with neither. No manager is here long enough to shape the transition between academy and first team, and the club equally does not have a set system in place for the transition as our solution seems to be to loan players out until they prove their worth, like Courtois did at Atletico. The issue with the loan system being that most of our players are loaned to teams in lesser leagues, so even if they perform really well (like Bamford for example) they still havent proven they are ready for champions league/premier league football. We should loan more players to bundesliga/serie a/la liga to be able to judge player abilities better. Championship and eredivisie football doesnt tell us enough about their abilities Edited May 11, 201610 yr by Coxy15

Championship and eredivisie football doesnt tell us enough about their abilities I'd agree with most of that, except.. There is no way jose didn't come back here without full control over who he played, it was Jose who stuck with (for example) Ivan instead of giving an academy player a chance, and that's just one example, I'm sure there are others.
May 11, 201610 yr Author I think there's an element of irony in the list. Just saying. The may have been a hint of sarcasm in my comment. Just saying.
